I can compare the Callaway Z grind to the Vokey T. I got the 60Z grind last week and have last years 60T.

i like the Cally Z it much better of the conditions my course has this year. The leading edge is doesn’t dig as much and the club plays with more bounce, but you are still able to get under the ball easy on a short pitch. Out of the bunker it is also much more forgiving, which is another knock for me for the Vokey T. I would be fine with it on firmer turf but if the sand is soft the Vokey T needs a really sharp bunker game.

When you say conditions this year Im assuming firm? Im in Socal and cant remeber the last time it actually rained. Seems like its been dry up there as well.

I've tried every single Vokey Lob Wedge Grind and I don't ever see myself switching away from the Low Bounce K. Incredibly versatile sole that is really good out of bunkers, great for flop shots, and allows me to hit all kinds of pitches on tight and soft lies. Can't guarantee you will have the same success because your swing/delivery is probably different than mine but I 100% think it's worth giving a go

Isn't the Z-grind similar to the M grind on Vokey?  Blunted leading edge with a rounded back?  Same as their X-grind is similar to Vokey D.

Visually Z grind looks like a low bounce K with leading/trailing edge relief, pretty wide overall. T grind is a lot different from either of them. Super low bounce v grind with heavy relief at the back.

Resurrecting this thread -

I played the Z grind this year to good success, coming from the T grind, but I find I prefer the feel and look of Vokey wedges. Has anybody actually tried recreating the Callaway Z grind via wedgeworks?

I was thinking about the V grind with leading edge relief or, probably closer, the LBK with leading edge and trailing edge relief.

LBK with leading/trailing edge relief is going to be pretty darn close IMO (comparing the Z grind to some of the custom LBK's in tour bags). Just have to make sure the leading edge is blunted instead of sharpened. Still think the Z will be superior because it has the leading edge chamfer without being ground. Leading edge grinds will change the shape of the wedge at address.

edit : In my opinion, the Z grind is the most versatile wedge grind I've ever tested. It has the forgiveness of a high bounce wedge, but is much faster through the turf and with a much lower leading edge.

You know, I tend to agree and this is probably what I needed to hear. I had no fear on square-faced shots with the Z grind and it was great around the greens & the bunker. I want the z grind, I just want it to be a vokey wedge 😆

which, at the end of the day, matters a lot less than the results.

Would still like to try the LBK with leading edge/trailing edge relief.

For what’s it’s worth this is what I ended up with. I found a zipcore 5 tour raw 56L and added 2 degrees to make it a 58/8. Then I did my own grind.
