New apex UW on the way?

Straight up assumption, but I'd assume, if there were to be a replacement, it would be Fall 2023.

Just add adjustable hosel for fine tuning and so changing shafts becomes easy.

Aesthetics. looking at adjustable fairway woods always looks chunky to me. beyond happy that callaway has been doing glue in hosels on their fws the last few seasons

With the right resources, the club is bendable. Lots of guys on tour have it bent flatter.

17.0° was perfect as is. 19.0° needed a smidge of bending.

Someone mentioned that the current UW may be discontinued soon. This is why I assumed that a replacement may be coming. But it doesn't seem like anyone has heard anything about this.

UW can be ordered +/- 1* for loft and lie.

Agreed. Definitely a hard NO on adjustable adapters. The look at address is just so clean and callaway makes the biggest fattest adapters out there. Plus I’m sure the extra weight on the hosel will making the cg and weighting of the club not the same which is another perk about it

I know it is bendable and I also know Callaway can do a degree. I however needed much more than a degree and did not want to deal with it.

So, it's a looks thing this no-to-adjustable-hosel -thing with Callaway? I can appreciate that. At the same time though people are fine with their SureFit hosels in their TSR's and same thing with other brands.. They don't seem to mind them on Tour either. Please do correct if I'm wrong.

With what brand can you go "much more flatter than a degree" than 57*? Maybe with Ping's using their most flattest setting in their adjustable hosel, and even that is barely.

The UW was a Phil creation.  With him no longer active with Callaway, this may simply go by the wayside.

Agreed, but it had enough Tour adoption that it very well could stick around.

Watched the new GM golf video at pinehurst number 2 with Akshay Bhatia. @ 3:33 into the video he mentions his favourite club and says it is a prototype. Looks awfully similar to the UW only with a different finish, even say apex uw on the bottom. Was able to cath some screenshots. Anybody whos sitting on some more info on this?

Based on the fact that he had in play back in July (with an included tour issue moth, lol)....



...combined with the aesthetics makes me feel like it's just a proto version of the current Apex UW. In the video he doesn't say that it's a *new* prototype e.g. one of an unreleased model, and it just looks like the current UW minus the graphic on the bottom, which is typical for Callaway protos. Do we have any evidence of him playing the retail Apex UW at all? I can't seem to find any. 

Plus i'm more interested in his caddy anyway 😳

The callaway tip is very wide and doesn’t look nearly as good as some of the others when looking down at it. Also since it’s bendable when you order 1* in any directions you pretty much have every setting possible in their std tip except for +2 loft.

I would have to agree, he met her on tinder and asked her to caddie for him as a date… he won that tournament😂

Correct. The Apex UW has seen better tour adoption by far than any utility club or off-release (IE not part of the yearly release cycle of woods) than almost any club in Callaway's history. It's a legit club that serves a purpose. Did you see any Super Hybrids or Epic SH's on tour? Nope.

 

Callaway also has not released a 'player level' 7 wood or anything between 19-22 degrees since the Mavrik and Rogue Sub Zero lines so the Apex UW is currently filling a need for players who want that. Sure guys on tour can get a cherry picked 5 wood with a higher loft close to 19 or so and shorten the shaft (like Xander did with the Rogue SZ prior to his time with the Mavrik SZ 20*@18.7*) but thats an even smaller niche.

I’m playing the 19* and love it. Would encourage people to try it out. It’s a legit club and deadly accurate. I also found it pretty forgiving on thin hits (my miss).

I recently ordered a PXG 0211 7 wood 21* mainly becuase of the killer price.  Definiltey willing to try something between the 4 wood and 4 hybrid in this vacinity......

I just don't get why people clamor for updates on the most successful clubs.  The UW may be the most successful club for Callaway in recent memory.  I don't think any special new technology is coming to improve these too much.

Having something that's nigh on perfect as is means you can only make it worse by changing things. Really hope it gets left alone...but I doubt it.

It's out there already. On Tour. Not many of them as I understand it, but it's out there.

You guys just about have me convinced to buy one. I haven't been confident with a fairway wood in a long time but I am seriously considering a 17 degree at 1 flat....
