Looking at a trip to Mesquite and St. George based on this GD article. Lots of options that I want to narrow down to 3-4 spots. I'd appreciate any suggestions/reviews that can help me prioritize courses to play?

I’ll send you a message later today.

I have been there several times and played most courses in the area.

St. George

-Copper Rock

-Sand Hollow Championship

-Entrada (must stay at resort)

-Black Desert is a new one and looks awesome. Not sure if open yet.
-Ledges is OK.  Couple cool holes.

Mesquite

- Conestoga

- Wolf Creek

- Oasis and Falcon Ridge are OK.

I've played Sand Hollow, Wolf Creek and Falcon Ridge.

Sand Hollow is my favorite of the bunch. A solid front 9 in a neat desert setting, not your standard desert course.  Then the back 9 is jaw-dropping, the most unique setting I've every played golf in.

Wolf Creek was the most unique place I'd played golf before playing Sand Hollow but it gets knocked for being a little tricked up and target golf.  If the wind was blowing I could see it being a miserable round but we had a blast playing it.

Falcon Ridge is like a turned down version of Wolf Creek and I played it as a second 18 when the temp was above 100 so not sure I have a great experience to draw from.  Still a lot of cool visuals but I'd play this one before you play Wolf Creek or Sand Hollow or it will be a let down.

Sand Hollow is a must play. It is both scenic and a very strategic design that you will love playing.

Wolf Creek and Conestoga are not the greatest golf courses, but are among the most memorable courses you will ever play because of their setting.

I haven't seen Coral Canyon mentioned. I haven't played there in a long time, but it was a fun course.

We first played the Sand Hollow Championship course when the club house was a tent in the parking lot.  We finished 18 at around 1pm and I turned to the 15 guys with me and said "We're playing this SOB again right now," when the last group finished.  It is that good and we did.  I've played a lot of golf in a lot of places and Sand Hollow remains in my top 5 all time.

In St. George I'd suggest Sand Hollow Championship, Copper Rock, and Entrada is simply amazing but you have to stay there and their accommodations are really nice.  Also play the Sand Hollow links 9 if you have time.  First time on it I shot even par and still lost the Stableford bet.

In Mesquite my number one would be Conestoga.  I'd play it every day.  If you haven't played Wolf Creek then play it once just to say you can but it's just a kick in the teeth.  I've played it four times and will never play it again.  Falcon Ridge is ok.

I would absolutely play Wolf Creek. I played it on a windy day, but still had a blast. Is it tricked up, target golf? Yes absolutely but feels like you’re on another planet. So worth it. Expect your round to move slow, 5ish hour.

Played Wolf Creek & Entrada. WC is simply amazing, an out-of-this-world experience. But, look for 5+ hour rounds…

Entrada was nice, but SH, Conestoga, WC  & BD when it opens would make a fantastic 4round play.

Played Wolf Creek today. It was cool. A little bit frustrating because it was my first time ever playing it and the yardage is were difficult with all the elevation changes and I had a fair amount of really good shots that were penalized. It’s just golf. It was a beautiful day.

Wolf Creek would be very hard to play without a slope rangefinder for the big drop off holes. And like you said, there are also some blind shots that if you don’t know what’s over the horizon a good shot ends up in trouble. I play there once every couple of years and I still can’t remember where to avoid.

When we played, we teed off on 10, 11 is a par three about 190 yards with about a 100ft drop?  We did not have a range finder with slope, first guy up hits 7 iron and flies it over the green by 20 yards, normail carry for his 7 iron is 150yards.

I thought Wolf Creek was a miserable 5.5 hour round and not worth the drive. Have heard great things about Conestoga though and I regret not playing there.

Always appreciate all the St George pictures though, its definitely first on our list next time we do a golf trip out there.

I'm heading back to the area in early March for a week. I last played there in March '21.

We played Wolf Creek, Conestoga, Sand Hollow, Coyote Springs, Falcon Ridge on that 2021 trip. Enjoyed them all. Sand Hollow was the best course, back nine is fantastic. Conestoga was the best conditioned. Wolf Creek was like playing golf on Mars. Coyote Springs is in the middle of nowhere but a tough Nicklaus designed lay out.

This year we are subbing out Wolf Creek and Conestoga (inflation) for the Oasis courses and Copper Rock in Utah.

Mesquite is good for a guys golf trip because you can go hard and it is only a 5 min drive to the courses the next day.

Great point! Compared to sitting in an uber from the strip for 30+ minutes to Reflection Bay trying not to hurl or driving an hour up to Coyote Springs in a similar situation.  These are just examples and in no way are painful first hand experiences...

Oh yeah exactly or where you are driving 45 min accross town to pick up one of the guys who met someone. Time is critical on a guys trip if you want it to be relaxed or rushed. Mesquite you usually pay for all the tee times ahead and just show up and go. It is ideal there. Everything is super close.

This was me April 2021, so thankful Bali Hai was as close as it was. If you could book tee times the morning of, Bali Hai and Wynn would get a lot of my $ just for the convenience.
