Because we are all smelly pirate hookers with dirty whoreish mouths, that need to go back to our home on whore island. I see the new color schemes, new technology and just can't help myself. Everyone is searching for the Holy Grail of their bag. Wives will never understand it

My wife has 20 pairs of black shoes... My friends buy a new car every 2 years... My brother-in-law has at least 15 bowling balls...

I HO CLUBS.

Just 20 pairs? Or is that what she told you? LOL I think my wife has storage unit that she cycles her shoes through. I can't blame her, she got the idea from me with my clubs.

I like to think of it more in terms of not wanting your club(s) to get too comfortable with their position in the "rotation". Especially the putter.

My putters all live in fear of being put in "time-out" from week to week. Sometimes it brings out the best in em, sometimes they can't handle the pressure. My current putter has been in the bag for almost a month......but it knows that I have an ebay purchase arriving by the end of the week. Consequently it performed pretty well on Sunday, so it stays for another round. :coolpics:

Pimping (Hoing) ain't easy, but it doesn't have to be expensive,

I just "redid" my whole bag and had a ton of fun doing it. A whole set of new (to me) clubs in 3-months is what some people would call Ho-ing, but I did it for cheap. The whole bag was $1000. $640 of that was in clubs with the remainder going into all the work that was done. Including reshafting a few clubs, and custom fit length, loft, lie and brand new cord grips on every club. Here is the breakdown:

983k driver ($60) +reshaft/grip ($100)

t60 17* 4-wood ($75) +DGSL shaft/grip ($30)

585h 21* hybrid ($85) stock s300 shaft

MP-14s with x100s ($150) +new cord grips ($110) +lie/loft ajustment ($40)

Nike forged 53* and 58* wedges ($30 and $45) +ground the 14* of bounce on the 58* down to 10* bounce and rechrome ($65) +lie/loft ajustment ($10)

A PingWRX putter that is in the mail ($194)

Also I just bought a t60 23* 9-wood for ($56) that will sub out with the hybrid.

My last set of irons were in my bag for 10 years.

My current driver is 3 years old, the previous one was 5.

Current putter is 3 years old, previous one was ~4.

Not everyone foolishly squanders $$ on the latest and greatest. :coolpics:

I may have you beat

irons-8 years

driver-9 years

the putter before my cameron lasted-6 years

getting new irons and driver next month though (i can finally justify upgrading)...so my streak will end...and this damn site may just change my frugal buying habits....

hoing is one thing but stupidity i cant excuse. at the local gg a guy traded in a tm super quad( got $50 which is stupid just keep it for that price). he then proceeded to buy a burner tp for $400. thats 400- 50=$350. two days later came back stating he couldnt hit the tp and wanted his sq back. they gave him $150 for the tp and he grab his sq off the used rackn for $150. so basically paid $350 to hit the tp at the range for two days. i have to feed the disease like the rest of us but lets not be stupid.

Things are changing must quicker now

I played the same wooden Ping driver, 3W and 5W from 1980 to 1995! There was really nothing better coming along.

Bought a steel driver in '95 and have bought a new one (now Titanium) every other year since then.

The new drivers/woods are much better these days. So are the balls. I cant believe the rocks we used to play with. (i have an unopened sleeve of Molitors circa 1985 if you are interested. )

I play x-20 irons now but I still have my Ping ISI (steel not K) set and there is not a big difference. I could still play my ISI's if I got them fitted, reshafted etc. Could not see playing an old wooden driver though.

Great bargains to be had in used drivers etc if you can trust the seller.

Buying clubs/putters etc is a hobby now. Ebay and the internet helps us who are from small towns have access to the market.

That is Mr. Sucker Ho to you! :coolpics:

You say sucker, I say nonsense, I buy a new TM driver which adds 11 yards, then go to a Cally, then back to the TM which promises me 11 more yards, and poof, I gained 22 yards! (JK, I am still keeping up my TM boycott).

Its the thrill of the hunt, the fun of trying new toys. I do not expect a driver to be that much better from one brand to another, but it sure is fun trying out different clubs. I vote for HO, not sucker.
