Haven't had our E63s out of the garage in over two months. Great forecast today and no ugly haze from the fires. The wife and I decided to drive down the Blue Ridge Parkway to the Switzerland Inn for lunch outside on the terrace. Great long range mountain views and 73* made for an enjoyable outing. It is a good ride with the car in sport+ mode. Unfortunately, we are at max population for what Big Stu calls tourons. Flatlanders come here and drive white knuckled from fear of the mountain roads. They seem to want their half out of the middle. Couldn't get close to the speed limit anywhere and it is a crime how bad the road surface is on the Parkway. Looks like the Army has been using it for mortar practice. Still a nice ride and lunch, followed by truffles from Nancy's Candies, in the Switzerland Inn sweet shop. If you've never had them you're missing a real treat.

We did that trip two years ago. Love the road, would be great motorcycle day. Went to the apple orchard up the way and listened to bluegrass music too. Pretty country there.

It is a great road for drives, but the condition is so bad right now I'd hesitate to take a motorcycle out there. You'd need a dirt bike designed for jumping to absorb the shock from the craters. The parking lot the car is sitting in is right above Altapass Apple Orchard. We go down in the Fall for apples and music.

I had an E320 several years ago in a similar color.  It was called "Midnight Blue".

Been foggy since we got in. I'm kicking it at a lil coffee shop over near City College gettin some work done - no shows till Bottom of the Hill on Wednesday. 

 

Might meet up with some homeys tonight!

Today is Chamber of Commerce weather. High of 70* at my house on Beech Mountain, and the view from our deck was unobstructed. First day in a while I can remember not seeing haze. The color is called Lunar Blue Metallic. My wife's SL550 is the same color. We call them twin sons from different mothers.

Yeah, I'm not sure they didn't just change the name to lunar blue metallic, which is what ours is, They probably have to be sitting side by side to tell the difference

Yeah, that's a parking area. The roads are very different. Avery and Watauga Counties have some of the worst roads this side of I-40 in Arizona. Literally like driving through a mine field. I've had multiple tires and wheels destroyed on our nicer cars. Not sure what the State and municipalities are doing with all that Highway Use Tax we pay. I can say for certain where it's not being spent.

Oh man, yeah ... some of them AZ roads are like driving on the surface of the moon. What is it, 93 that runs between I-40 and Phoenix?

It was chamber weather for sure for us SB. I was playing just south of Brevard at 3000 feet elevation. The high temperature was 78* with 40% humidity and a 10 mph breeze. It possibly might turn out to be the best weather day for golf that we will have the entire month of July. It was exceptionally lovely out there this afternoon. I was very fortunate to be out playing. 🙂🏌️⛳

Some of the greens at Connestee are tiny. They are sloped too. Extra precision is needed on half the holes with your irons coming in.

Brevard is known for it's white squirrels. They are not albino. 

Some of them have black racing stripes going down their backs. I saw a racer squirrel today! I of course got to get up close and talk to a few deer. 

Connestee Falls is a special golf course. 😊

Yes, but I-40 is a train wreck. We drove out there in a Mercedes GL450 with off road package. It's 6000lb SUV that is built well. Damaged two tires on the way to AZ and had to replace all four. On the way home we had problems with vibration, front tires wobbling and the clunking from the lower control arms and bushings being destroyed. It had 50,000 miles on it when we left home and drove/rode like a dream. Between the tires and front end damage it was close to $3500 in repairs when we got home.
