Funny story ... I was sitting in a meeting when I was working at Dollar Shave Club years back. My phone buzzes in my pocket and was like "Who TF is texting me right now?"

 

I look and it was Jello. "Hello drummer what's your address?" 

 

I was like "Uh, Hollywood? You've been to my house. Why?"

 

"I want to send a gift to Barbara. But I don't want to send it to her, I want to send it to you to give to her." 

"Ok dude!" 

 

Barbara ... is Babs, my old singer in TCK as seen above .... and his ex-girlfriend. That's how I know him and how I've spent ungodly amounts of time with him 😂

 

He told me he refuses to call her "Babs" because "It reminds me of Barbara Bush. NO." 

 

One time he was in LA, I drove him out to a record store in the valley. I just assumed ... ok, no big deal. Won't be here to long. He was in there for FOUR FREAKIN HOURS. I wound up walking to a liquor store and buying a six pack of beer and just sat on the sidewalk out front drinking till he was done 😂

On the way back from Spokane too drunk came on, as well as the Jerks World up my ***.  She was super impressed coming from A-Ha.  We grew up differently.  When we show up at F&D I probably won’t alert you. Tuesday’s are tough.  Add in first Tuesday, and the odds drop precipitously.

On Monday of this week it looked like that for the first time this summer I was going to have both of my rounds on my days off rained out. We cancelled our round on Monday but I was fortunate that for a few hours in the afternoon the rain stopped and I got in a decent practice session at the range. Come Tuesday morning the forecast was for off and on rain all day so my group again cancelled our round. I kept my eye on the weather radar and while I was eating lunch it looked to me that the rain might stop for a few hours starting at 2 PM so I made the decision that I would head to BFCC and at least get in 9 holes. I was going to at least try and play some golf and not get completely shut out for the week. I expected to play by myself and I expected CPO. 
When I loaded up my golf cart I noticed two of our assistant pros were loading up their bags on a cart. I wondered if I should invite myself to play with them. I also wondered if I might be better off just playing solo for some practice time as mentally I wasn't expecting to play with two excellent golfers. I thought well LP, you could start out and if you play kind of poorly you could always tell them to go on ahead. Yeah that was it. I asked and they said sure come on and join us. N and R were in their cart and played the tips and I was solo in my cart and played the senior tees. Since we had all that rain it was indeed cart path only.

I found out early that I would have to hustle to my ball on foot and then hustle back to the cart so I wouldn't hold up the two players. I started out with a bogey and then sent my approach shot on #2 with my 5 wood way right and into the pond, a pond which I have never hit a ball in before. Double. Three over after two. On the short par 3 third hole I stuck a wedge from 115 to 16 inches and drained it for a birdie. The pace of play was so quick that I was forced to speed walk to and from my ball in the fairways. I even began to cancel all of my preshot routine. Yep, I just got to my ball, shot my yardage and then made a swing. I was hustling over them hills all afternoon. The pro's were playing well and hitting almost all fairways and greens. This was speed golf for me. I didn't make any more birdies but I did make another double and also a triple. Yes I hit 3 shots on the day OB.

Were it not for my three disaster holes (two doubles and a triple) I played right steady. We played 18 holes in 2 hours flat and that was my fastest round of the year by far. My legs were worn out when we finished. Yes those three bad holes were severe gut punches, but I also hit a bunch of high quality shots during the round. I didn't completely embarrass myself playing with the pros and I was pleased about that. 

 

It really did look like I wasn't going to get to play any golf this week. I'm grateful that I did end up getting in a round even if I had to play at a ridiculously fast pace. 

Two friggin' hours for 18 holes with cart path only conditions. That is hauling a** boys. 😅

Ball colors notwithstanding, this was an interesting result from our 4 approach shots on one of the holes during today's round.  Sorry, no 1 putts but, then again, no 3 putts either.   I started out well with a 38 (+2) on the front, but did my usual back-9 fizzle with a 44 (+8).

Tell me about it. We do not have kids or Grandkids and my son by my first wife passed from cancer in 2000. But I keep up with several racing sites on FB. Some of the guys I raced against their sons and in some cases today daughters are now racing and some of them their grandkids are now racing.

Blew a tire at Talladega at 200 MPH the tore up car in the pic got into him and under him and at those speeds the car launched on him. Today they have roof flaps and cowl flaps that deploy if you get backwards at high speeds. In this case the flaps would not have helped. I saw this race live on TV and it has been analyzed on FB racing sites over the years. BTW He was not injured

Jello is a personal friend. I've sat and talked with him about it. And man, does he love to talk to you. We in F&D do a couple of takes on DK tunes and Hoss almost always introduces them as "These songs were written by our personal favorite member of the Rat Pack ... California governor candidate and everyone's friend, Jello Biafra!" 

 

The name was an intentional jab at the USA that never happened because of the deaths of JFK and RFK. So kinda the opposite of the take you got, Stu. 

Ok whatever no problem like you and I discussed the other day everyone is entitled to their opinion. And yes NASCAR was born out of bootlegging and so was Steve Earle. I never saw a problem with bootlegging which was telling the Federal Government basically to stick it we are doing what we want to. My point of the Dead Kennedys was disrespect of the families of the dead.

BTW Do not know if it is official or it is true but I have read the state Of Tennesse is going to adopt "Copperhead Road" as the official state song

It does not matter which side I start on my first 9 will be meeh like 6 or 8 over then the second nine I will burn it up like even or 1 or 2 over. Do not understand it because I get loose before I tee off. I think it may be mental as in not thinking club and shot selection. Can not understand it. Wednesday in the small money game I started hot. Was -1 after 6 holes. But I knew when we started we were not going to get 9 in much less 18. I was running and gunning it. Think I am going to take that approach Tuesday in the league. I am not playing the small money game today going to play later with a couple of friends

I think a misunderstanding, brother. It was a statement of what could have been. But wasn't. Because of what was and still is.

Ok I can respect that---- and no we do not want to get banned. You are one of the people that if you got banned I might not come back on WRX. Sometimes my moral teachings come out in me. My Old Man (RIP) had his issues and we did not get along but basically he had morals and taught me some. Most of my moral learnings came from Grannie who was a staunch Disciples of Christ old school Eastern NC person. As a kid I did not always agree with what she said but as life has gone on I have learned she was right. My wife says sometimes my staunch side comes out as in Southern Baptist/ DOC.

That's where I went to school from K-8. 

 

My parents weren't particularly religious - dad wasn't AT ALL and there was a bit of a rift between me and the Presbyterian preacher at his funeral. I somehow managed to keep myself together that day when mom and my brother were losing it. Which is crazy because life long ... it probably affected me the most. Comes up with every session with my therapist somehow or another. 

 

I just remember seeing him and walking up and going from 5 to 11. "Thank you for being here. It means a lot to my mama. Dad never believed any of your bull**** and if you mention your idea of god one single time, I will beat the **** out of you in front of everyone here. Am I being clear?" 

 

He didn't. He made a respectful statement. Sometimes that's just the best way to handle things. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 

 

I have an incredible moral and ethical code I live by. Hell, jut the other night I was putting some groceries in my car and realized I miscounted the limes I bought. I went back inside and told them and paid for the one I didn't account for initially. It was a huge pain to everyone involved but it mattered to me to be honest. Didn't matter to anyone else and it was all of a whopping 50 cents ... but it mattered to me.

Were you, or are you still, racing cars?  I was thinking about a quote or something I read where Dale Earnhardt said he feels safer 2” away from a professional driver at 200 mph than passing some guy in a Gremlin on the highway (or something to that effect).  Do you concur?  On the way back from Spokane at 80-85 mph is why it struck me.
