Anyone know who makes the new waxed canvass models ?

No idea but nice looking bag for the money ($225).  A similar MacKenzie would set you back $750.

A Jones Players Series is roughly the same or less in cost. I would much rather support them than EAL, who I think is a total clown.

Having  said that these bags could have some improvements 

 

Waxed Canvass is better than nylon and I believe much more expensive and has better durability

 

34 inch height as opposed to 37 inch on the Jones where some reviewers complained wedges would sink to tie bottom on the Jones Players 

 

No support spine is a curious omission

I know this is a RGC topic, but thanks to @mshills I got this.  Came out to $135 after discount code.  
 

First waxed canvas bag, but the overall makeup of the bag is impressive.  I do like the x divider and the extra length on the strap “hides” in the bag.

Well I’ve been watching the random golf club grey waxed and i just pulled the trigger on the penfold coral.   I really liked the rgc sweater pocket but this seemed to work, will be interested to see in real life

When mine shows up (it will eventually I guess….no big thing as it was an impulse buy and not something I need right this minute) I may hit it with more wax….I have a bunch on hand and just retreated my Filson computer bag. 🙂

Like to see how tall it is to see how much the irons/wedges stand out.  I had a Jones Original which was decent, but the wedges went a bit too far into the bag.  Also, any Penfold logos other than on the bottom?  What does the X divider look like, and is the bottom pocket split up at all, or just 1 big pocket?

Thank you @mshills - I just ordered one as well. Been looking at these and the Takoma bag, but this one at 10% off was too good to pass up.

I'm thrilled for all involved and not judging in any way,  and I'm not immune to tinkering with clubs, numerous questionable impulse buys, stockpiling balls pointlessly, etc, etc. However, one fetish I don't get is the boutique golf bag fetish. I don't think I have thought for one second about my bag (a typical SM stand bag) in 10 years. It holds the clubs and has pockets for the other junk.

 

Is there something I'm missing out on?

There's something about the minimalist vibe of these bags that mesh really well with walking the course, especially with a limited set of clubs. I play with only 10 clubs, a sleeve of balls, a few tees, a towel, and a GPS ... Everything in a Sunday bag with just a couple of pockets. Makes the game really simple ... For me, it's more like when I was a kid, just playing holes and hitting shots. Never had more fun, then or now.

Fetish is a strong word man, LOL!! 🤣 I like a small bag with one strap.  I have trouble getting dual straps on and off, and I like to walk when I can.  Especially when it starts getting cold and crappy, sitting in a cart is miserable.

 

Plus, the semi-custom or truly bespoke bags look cool!

I have standard length clubs, so the wedges come right to the top of the bag, no issue for me as they don’t fall into the bag at all. 
 

The only Penfold logo is the metal plate near the handle, and this was a super selling point for me.  The other two colorways that Penfold offers has the big logo on the pocket, so very happy that this bag has a clean/logo-less look. 
 

x-divider is sweet and just one big pocket with a clip to attach your keys.

This is my first, but I am going to guess "not so waxy".  I would like to know your thoughts when you eventually get your back, and if you do end up putting a wax treatment on it - i need those details too!

I have always been a fan of bags overall - backpacks, gear bags, pouches, totes, etc. and the materials and craftsmanship that comes with them.  I've always wanted to get something different and isn't a billboard for one brand.  I think this also spills into the different headcovers that I have for woods/putter lol.

 

Probably the male-version of women wanting different purses lol!
