Think I regret not going CB.  King tours are great but they are a bit chunky (which I could get along with) but I find them not getting through the turf like my P7mc.

anyone else experience that

100% agree with you here. Sole is too thick and too much bounce.

Do you play cb?  If so, any issue with those getting through?

I have the CB's and while they are thicker than most other OEM's CB's I have no issue with them getting through the turf. I have just added the MB PW and GW to my bag to replace the CB's. I have the Tours in 4+5 iron and but come in much more shallow with them so can't really say.

I hit a buddies CBs recently - wowzers.  I'm definitely not good enough to call them my gamer, but they felt incredible (although I really like the King Tours as well).  I still maintain that Cobra is one of the most underrated iron makers our there (yes, I'm biased but I love my FTs).

Driver: Callaway Paradym 10.5* with Hzrdus Smoke Blue RDX 60 Stiff

Fairways:  Callaway Paradym 3W & 7W with Hzrdus Smoke Blue RDX 70 Stiff

Irons:  Cobra Forged TEC 4-PW with KBS Tour Stiff

Wedges:  Callaway Jaws Raw Plasma 50, 54 & 58

Putter:  Scotty Phantom X 5.5

If you hit them well, go for the CB’s. I don’t believe handicap alone is a good indicator. The quality of your ball striking is what really matters.

I'm a good example of that. I’m a 6 handicap that has played blades since I started golfing 5 years ago. Most people would say that’s stupid but ball striking and driving are the 2 best parts of my game. It’s the 40+- putts I have to clean up.

If you go back and hit them well again, give it a shot! What do you have to lose? Can always resell them if it doesn’t work out.

How do folks like the CB or Tour gap wedges?

I love my King Tour gap wedge!! Full shots get great spin and height, easily workable but easy to flight down if needed with less than full swings. It is great around the green with whatever shot you want to play. For me, it is the most versatile wedge in the bag and just instills confidence and just straight up predicable.

I'm a 8-9 index who has better ball striking than my index implies. I agree that you should just test them out and get what you like.  I tested both the CB and Tours at golf shop hitting bay and no matter how much I tried to use common sense that the Tours would be better for me and my handicap, I hit the CBs better and more consistently.  I can't explain to you why...I'm not a better ball striker than Rickie Fowler who chose to go with the Tours over the CBs.

I think mentally and subconsciously we all have individual quirks about how we perceive the clubs in our hands to be.  I honestly think that for the immediate time being, I perceive the CBs in my hands to be harder to hit, so I subconsciously put more smooth swings on them to avoid the off center hit/feedback that I know is possible with such a club.  The end result of putting a better swing on a club creates more perceived "forgiveness and consistency"  in that I am more often closer to the center of the face than swinging a club with more tech in it with a not so smooth swing and relying on the tech to cover up strikes that are farther from the center of the face.

Could I put smoother and consistent swings on my old set of Forged Tecs and get ultimately better results given I am not close to a tour or scratch level ball striker...probably.  But at least for now, looking down at my CBs is a constant reminder, on every single swing, that good contact trumps all.  When I looked down at my forged tecs...I did a lot of overswinging or got quick wth my tempo.

Anyone with the King Tours willing to take a heel to toe measurement of the 7 iron along with a shot addressing a ball? Trying to determine if they'll be my next set after the NL 902OS I've been working with this year.

There’s a shot at address a couple of pages back and there is a shot of a 5 iron head being measured on the page right before this one
