Has anyone had swing weight issues with these clubs when moving away from the stock $ taper shafts? My understanding is that the $ taper will swing weight lighter than most. I ordered a king tour 7 iron to try out with modus 120x 1/4inch long with a GP MCC +4 midsize grip and it is swing weighting at D4. I asked for D2. Yes the 1/4 inch may add 1-1.5 on the SW but the grip is almost 20 grams heavier than the stock grips which should drop the SW 3 points or more. If I had the stock grip on this puppy it would SW like D7. Cobra says the stock SW is D2. Anyone else with these issues? Cobra did not seem to make much effort getting me to D2 with this build. 1/4 inch over length is not much especially when taking into account the heavy grip I added.

I was previously playing T200(2021) 1/4 inch long with PX LZ 6.5 in them, 2 degrees upright and standard tour velvet grip. That 7 iron was D6 swing weight and I could really notice that as well as it negatively effecting performance. I just got my new Cobra King CB/Tour combo set last week. My 7 iron is Cobra King CB with Modus 120x 1/4 inch long, standard lie and standard Lamkin grip with 3 wraps of tape. I have not had the Cobra's checked for swing weight yet but I can already feel it swing weighting closer to D3.

Obviously the CB is a slightly different head than the Tours but to answer your question I did not have the issue you're describing.

Debating between full set king tour or CBs.  Leaning king tours but the CBs look so good.  If lofts were equal (I’d weaken tours) would you expect distance to be a wash?

I have my king tours bent to match the CBs and they gap perfectly. I think loft for loft you get the same distance out of both with slightly more speed retention on the king tours on slightly off center strikes vs the CBs but both are quite easy to play IMO. I would be curious to hear others who have played both on how they feel.

Also are you opposed to combo'ing them together?

I dont know why, but yes.  Never had a combo set and can't see myself going that way.  Probably stupid but I am what I am ha.  Hard not to go full king tour based on what i've learned

Anyone coming off zx5 and or t200 and can give a quick comparison to the King Tours. About to pull the trigger.

Just do it.  although I don't play the Cobra's.  When testing irons and the ZX5 & T200 were tested, the Cobra's for me were far and away the better iron, especially on the feel aspect.  Had better spin and dispersion with the Cobra's as well.

Can someone post a picture of the Cobra CB 6 or 7 iron at address? If possible, next to another common iron like ZX7 or T100. I want to see how thick the CB top line is.

No pic but somewhere in between the two.  Thinner than zx7 noticeably but thicker than t100

I used to play 2021 T200's and dropped my HC significantly. I now play combo set of King CB and King Tour and constantly say I could very easily play a full set of Tours. I would say the T200 launch higher and are hotter off the face than the King Tour but the King Tour feels so much nicer, looks better (to me) and performed significantly better than my T200's.

Not the best photo but I have Srixon Z-Forged (1st gen) left, Cobra CB middle, 2021 T200 right.

Srixon is longest heel to toe and Cobra being shortest heel to toe.
Srixon and Cobra topline is the same but the rounded edge of Cobra make it looks slightly thicker, T200 the thickest.

When I was going through fittings the Cobra CB is on the thicker side of a CB and was thicker than T100 but slimmer than ZX7.

The BPS is definitely thinner topline and shorter heel to toe. I have KT and have seen BPS. Going to compare them today.

KT actually looks like a thinner topline to me, but it could be the angle of the photo and my own eye dominance.

Either way, there's not much it.

My Cobra Tours are still firmly in the bag.  I tested everything, and I mean everything.  I am playing 5-GW and love them.

Previous iron sets

PXG 0311ST & CB split set

Srixon ZX7 & ZX5 split set.

The biggest thing I noticed is that in the 5 iron of the Tour I have better spin numbers with the King tour than the ZX5, and better ballspeed than the 0311CB.  They are not "spring face" like the foam filled irons, but for some reason I am getting the ballspeed and spin I need for the 5 iron to do what I need it to.

The Srixons performed better through the turf in the wet winter, the Cobra's are better than the PXG's in the winter.  I tested the Blueprint S last week and they are amazing, and have a lot of similarities to the Tours as far as ballflight and numbers.  Turf interaction is a bit different, from a set I got to hit on the course, they were the wrong shafts, though so can't be certain.  Bang for buck, the Cobra's win I think for everyone, but for me the Cobra's win no matter the price.

Im coming from a split MKii ZX5/ZX7....so are you getting better numbers than the ZX7 bottom of the bag and the numbers you need distance/spin wise compared to the top of the bag ZX5.

So at the same loft, when I tried the ZX7 vs C Tours, the numbers were almost identical, C Tours spun a bit more, but nothing crazy.

I have a ZX5 in the 5 iron and 6 irons.  I also have a ZX7 in 6 iron.

The ZX5 ballspeed was 1/4 MPH faster than the Cobra Tours in the 5 iron.  IN the 6 iron it was the same.  Now the interesting part for me was that the Cobra Tour 5 iron spun more in line of where it should.  The ZX5 pulled a lot of spin off so it wasn't great into the greens, but was workable, where as the Cobra tour holds the green better.  Gapping is still just fine.

Every other set I have played(I am a bit lower launch guy) I need the 5 iron to be somewhat flex face to maintain my ball speed spreads for gapping.

This post just cost me some $. I am in very similar situation. Currently playing 2023 t200 and I can not get the spin numbers in even the mid irons to the point where they are usable when it’s remotely firm and fast. Have tried the i230 but they have a little too much bounce in firm conditions. Been looking for something that is forgiving enough that they are playable, enough ball speed to help in the longer irons but enough spin to be playable. I think these are worth a try.

I'm similar to you. Tried the i210s but too much bounce for me here in Dallas, TX. Absolutely loved how forgiving and consistent they were. Looking for something similar but with a better sole. Cobra King Tour seems by far the best option.
