Chrome Soft X vs Pro V1x

Hey All,

 

I've been gaming the CSX Triple Track the last couple years. Playing P790s. Used to be an out to in swing path guy and hit it straight, or with a bit of left to right shape (as a righty). Last few months have taken lessons and learned how to come from the inside, hit draws, and compress the ball more. I'm still getting pretty good peak height but my spin on 7 iron is down in the 4700-5300 range. Has anyone else gone away from CSX and into V1x to get some more iron spin? Did it achieve the goal for you? What did you think of the ball in general in terms of feel and all that?

To me, Pro V1x, Chromesoft x and Bridgestone BXS would have the most iron spin.

You might need to look at bending those irons 1-2 degrees weaker for extra spin, the CSX is already on the higher end.

The difference in spin for me was marginal between the ProV1x and CSX.  B XS spun the most out of all the tour balls though.

Are you measuring spin indoors or outdoors?  My 7 iron spin inside from a mat is always 4800-5400 max.  I find that with a medium spin ball outside from a fairway, I have no trouble stopping a 172 yard 7 iron within a few feet on the green.  But I do get pretty good height so that helps my stopping power.

 

Just curious if you're seeing the effects of low spin on the actual course or if you're assuming the low spin indoors will cause problems outdoors.  Not accusing, just offering an opinion from my experience.

to be the std chromesoft x wasn't great for me - off the tee it spun a bit more than i wanted and on mid irons they tended to give me a higher flight that spun...not a good combo.

I play CSX or Tour B XS in warmer temps, they both spin very well, easy to back up pinched wedges...if can't spin a CSX it's not the ball

Yea, realistically I'll get fit for some new irons here soon. I don't need the distance of p790s and there are plenty of other clubs with similar forgiveness that won't be so hot and low spin.

I've got a sleeve of those, the Ping Ballnamics had those two as my top matches back when I did that a few months ago. Was happy to see it as I was already gaming CSX.

Indoors. I haven't done outdoors, where I am it's too cold for any ranges to be using grass. Honestly haven't loved Bushnell Launch Pro outside on grass to date, feel like it doesn't get all the readings I'd want. And I'm not super interested in using range balls, and/or putting it down on the course before each shot.
