Pleasantly surprised to see The Golf Channel focus on the championship match. Was really expecting two see non-stop coverage of the consolation match.

They mentioned that Ariya, Moriya, Lexi, and Minjee have been in all four ICs. I attended the 2016 addition at the Merit Club outside Chicago

As many years as I've been watching golf, I still don't understand it.

 

Back in January at Hilton Tournament of Champions, Patty Tavatanakit (+14) and Ariya Jutuanugarn (+21) were dead last; Brooke Henderson won it with -16.

 

In a matter of less than four months; Patty and Ariya are now on top of the world while Brooke is struggling a bit.  That's golf.

The Aussies had a great week, but simply ran out of steam in the finals. The Swedes were on a tear, but the Aussies steam rolled them this morning. They had their chances in the final, but couldn't get a putt to fall. 

 

Congrats to Thailand. Looked in control all week.

Can't completely disagree with the belief that the course was set up for the long hitters, but Sweden and Australia both made it to the semis. I think it (once again) came down to putting, as almost all match play events do.

pretty dominant win, congrats to Thailand.  It's a nice for 3 players a little out in the wilderness.

I was there in 2016 also. I was following InGee Chun’s group at one point, and as they were walking down the fairway I called out, “Good luck, Dumbo!”  She gave me a big smile and a wave - and all the other spectators looked at me like “what did you call her!”  Hilarious!

Give Team USA some credit!  I don't think Nelly, Lexi and Danielle wanted to be in San Francisco this week, but they didn't do what Georgia and Charley did to Team England.

 

Furthermore, they have been polite, courteous and pleasant!

That was a pretty convincing win for Thailand.  Not just the finals but the entire week.  I was actually surprised that Thailand wasn’t seeded in the top 3 to start the week.

Fun week. Definitely missed the crowds that the Solheim attracts, but still some quality golf. I thought the lower ranked players held their own. Plenty of close matches are key moments. 

 

Biggest surprise of the week was the performance by the Korean and Japanese teams. Expected both in the semis. Match play sure produces some int results at times.

I think Korea would have done better w Hae Ran Ryu + A Lim Kim on this course 

 

Japan was the youngest team, they will do better the next edition.

 

Same with China who has a lot of young talent on LPGA, mainly Xiaowen Yin and Epson Tour.

 

Maybe England would have done better w long hitter Mel Reid

Wouldn't surprise me if that was the first time Ariya picked up a club since the off-season  😂

LPGA should have really promoted it to all the high school golf programs in the Bay Area. Special low ticket price, maybe a LPGA/tournament logo visor or golf towel for any HS golfer.
