For those who play this ball, I see it has a mid iron spin characteristic of "the highest"......have you guys seen ballooning?

Zero ballooning. It’s one of the great characteristics of this ball. Incredible in the wind.  That being said, no ball is a miracle worker. If you’re steep and adding loft at impact-  you’ll be able to balloon anything.

It’s like a Chrome Soft X. More spin but a lower lift/drag cover to equalize ballooning.

I liked the Diamond. It’s definitely the best ball in the Srixon line in my opinion. Distance of XV off the driver, softer feel than XV off the irons, but more spin than the Z Star. Overall a very good ball. I still prefer the Tour BX because for me it’s my Goldilocks of distance, feel, spin, and wind performance.

Has anyone noticed these launch on the lower side of other balls in the same category?

Have tried these for the last 2 rounds. Both cold and really windy. Trying to pick up a little extra spin on my irons vs Prov1. So far I have liked the results but seeing them launch a little lower than I’m used to. Could possibly be my swing and the extra layers for the cold.

Yes and no. The data is interesting. My launch will get low (7-9) off the tee because my attack angle will get ---. I've been fitted and hit the ball well. It's just my swing. The diamond is my favorite ball to hit because it quickly gets to my preferred window and pierces through the wind.

But with the irons, I will sky the ball when I hit it flush with good compression at the same steep attack. The diamond will go noticeably lower on the irons but will spin like a demon through the wind. Longer.

Other balls have much lower deviations between launch and height between the Driver and Irons. The Diamond is Goldilocks for me. I also like and play the V1X.

Are there any other balls people notice this with?

I fall more in the Mid swing speed category and the same deltas don’t seem as drastic. I haven’t had the change to hit them side by side yet. Waiting on a little better weather. I’ve tried the ProV1x also but it just feels too firm for me. Like the regular version and the BX better.

I tried the Diamonds this weekend, what a great ball.  They were long off the tee, controllable with irons, checked up well with wedges and felt great with the putter.  I was really impressed, was close if not better than the AVX for me, especially in the wind.

I've been doing some ball testing between Titleist and Srixon and I've come to the conclusion that the Z-Star Diamond has the spin and height of the ProV1x but the feel of the ProV1. I do wish the Srixons had the same durability of the Titleist balls.

This is exactly the way I feel about the Diamond. I’ve played it exclusively since fall of 23 after playing prov1x for 4 years. And just bought 4 dozen more.

Pros = better feeling (than prov1x) and slightly more short game spin.

Cons = not as durable

I haven’t notice any distance drop off at all.

I'd summarize it like the last 2 posters.

Performance of a ProV1x with the feel of a ProV1, though not as durable.

That said I can get 18+ holes out of them easily and when I lose many on my course (ball munching course), the difference in price is worth the trade off in durability for me. That said I only had the buy 2 get 1 free over the winter (got 6 dozen), though have been waiting for the buy one get one free that hasn't occurred for my area since last summer.

In Canada ProV1s are 73/doz and Z stars are 60/doz. Can do buy 2 get 1, works out to 40$/doz vs the buy 3 get 1 for ProV1s (on now) works out to about 35% less before taxes.

I am all for playing the best, though with equal performance (for me) I'll go with 35% less.
