2023 zstar diamond reviews

I don't know exactly what is supposed to be different, technically. The marketing has said that it's got a new formula for the core and a slightly thicker cover, and it should spin a little more. For what it's worth, I really like the new Diamonds.

I have been testing the new Pro V1, V1X and the current model Chrome Soft X LS alongside the Diamond. In general, I like a slightly firmer feeling ball (even though I don't have massive swing speed) and I personally had a really great game on Easter with the Diamond. I really like driving all 3 balls, and I maybe get some extra yardage out of the CSX LS... but at 150 yds and in the Diamond and V1X both give me slightly better feel and expected distance. When it comes down to putting, I think I actually like the V1X a little better... has a little click to it that I prefer. But ultimately the Diamond just felt better off my wedges and that's probably the one aspect of my game where I need more confidence. Didn't notice any issues with durability even though I wound up on the path and in the bunker a couple times.

It's a good ball. I liked it a lot. Will probably grab a few dozen on sale when Srixon does their father's day thing.

The diamond is definitely different than last year.  They have been silent on the specifics.  I played multiple dozens of them last year and loved them.  I like them even more this year.  They feel better on every club and spin slightly more around the green with partial shots. I'd say that they feel more like a ProV1, but perform like the 23 ProV1X.

Thanks for this info. I’m hoping they spin as much off of mid-long irons. That is what convinced me I need to switch to diamonds from z-star. But, I’ve been playing the prior model I have left over from last year. Hoping the new ones are part of the Father’s Day sale so I can stock up.

How do they perform on full wedge shots compared to the older one?

Slightly more in my estimation, with an emphasis on slightly.  I have a GC3 and it suggests that indoors, but I don't trust indoor wedge numbers off of artificial turf when I can't try them back to back.  On the eye test outdoors it seems like I can be more aggressive with lower fizzier chips compared to last year.  This performs like a 23' ProV1X, but feels softer to me.

I find the same.  I played it at Bandon in March in crazy wind and it just refuses to balloon.  If you regularly play in windy conditions and hard greens, this ball has to be on your short list IMO

Haven't tried the 23 model, did play a dozen last year, can't say I saw a huge difference between the diamond and the XV.  Maybe a bit lower launching off the driver, just a touch more spin green side.  Have toyed with the Chrome soft X LS this year, really long off the tee, probably more spin vs. either Srixon ball from 150-75 yards, but green side less spin, and even more firm feeling off the putter.  I could play any of them, just preference on feel and do I need more spin from close in.

Haven't tried the newer version standard Z-Star, I used to play it a few years ago over the XV as I liked the softer feel and ball flight and felt the XV was noticeably longer off the driver, but I have read the newer version this is not the case.

I’ve got 3 dozen of the ‘23 z star that I’m about to test on course. I had the same issue, loved the way the regular z star feels but seemed to come up a few yards short on iron shots into greens that I’ve hit hundreds of times with prior years z star vs a 2019 pro v1.

These guys seemed to like it. One says he is putting it in his bag this season because it beat out the ProV1 in every category.

I'd like to know why srixon is not making the Diamond in yellow

Seriously.  I’ve been playing this ball and really like it.  Just went to order a couple dozen z star diamond yellows for the winter and I am a bit shocked they don’t offer it in yellow.

Srixon is losing sales, I play yellow balls in the winter while the grass is dormant.  I’m going to have to go with another brand.

I prefer the Diamond over the XV when chipping and putting.  Regret not picking up more of them during the last Srixon sale.

I'm trying out the CSX myself because of Diamond not in yellow. The CSX So far is a Very good ball. I'm finding it longer than the Diamond off Driver and Irons.

I found the CSX to be longer off the tee and irons as well.  Diamond was very very nice around the greens

I agree but the diamond can bite a little too much atleast for me anyway. The jury is still out on the CSX around the greens. But so far I'm liking it. Gonna play 9 with in again tomorrow morning so we will see

I switched over to the '23 Diamond end of this year.  Great ball.  I picked up the 3 for 2 deal and will be the ball I am gaming next year.  It is much better then the prior Zstar's I have played.

Edit:  I would say it is between Prov 1 and ProvX honesty.  A combo of them.  You can not go wrong with it.

Srixon makes a good ball. I do not understand the whole cracking at the seem thing because I never have a ball last that long, yet. I'll give the 95 compression Z star divides a go when the fathers day special arrives.

they are doing a holiday special right now. I’m loading up. I’ve got 9 dozen and picking up 6 more before it’s over.
