DIY - ProSENDR Training Aid for $40

I started with a piece of cardboard to get an initial size and shape. The second piece was just to help set the angle. I used sculpy to create a form like @Weekendwarrior2004 did. I used Polly Plastic Heat Moldable Plastic Sheets to create the shell, the thermoplastic worked with a heat gun on low heat. One sheet cut in half will make a thick enough shell, so you can make 3x shells if needed from one pack. I got the medium Hol-ee Roller Rubber Dog Toy medium but that was a bit large. I am going to try the small. 

I did make a 3D scan of the shell so I will probably remodel in Fusion 360.. 

Cost  - $42 (3x Shells can be made, 3x - $62) 

• Polly Plastic Heat Moldable Plastic Sheets - $20
• 1/4" Black Adhesive Foam Padding - $12
• Brace Up $10

 

I used some release agent to keep the plastic to from sticking to the baked clay.  I used some extra clay to hold the model in place and slowly melted the sheets of thermoplastic over the form. I let it cool down and slipped the shell off of the form. Once the shell was off I applied a bit of heat to make it pliable again to dial in the fit and form. 

 

For padding I used a bit of 1/4" Black Adhesive Foam Padding, and vinyl wrap just to cover the shell.

Looks awesome! How did y’all determine the angle? Safe to assume that the lead wrist was bowed during the process?

I made one of these much the same way using ¹/⁸ in abs sheet, lined inside with a neoprene foam sheet and wrist strap to hold it. You can even buy moldable carbon fiber sheets too.

These are all great alternatives to the original. However, the one thing they all seem to be missing is the trigger finger slot and lip. My understanding is that is placed to stop the wrists from over hinging at the top which is a face opening mechanism. With these diy creations are you guys able to still manufacture a longer swing at the top by over hinging or is it still pretty limited?

I love saving money but as an avid golfer, i've come to realize anything golf is expensive...

so I don't mind spending money on things that work. so for $170 its not breaking the bank.

The other night on Golf Channel I saw Martin Hall tuck a spatula underneath a wristband. Haven't seen that on here. I bought the real Prosendr, it's great and costs less than a fairway wood.

Your design looks better than mine. I tried FinCorp’s idea and it works great. It could just be my bio mechanics, but the pinky side of my right hand is bent back less than the thumb side. Yours looks opposite?

Saw a video a couple of days ago on the Prosendr,I've got to get one of those......til I looked at the w/s for this device,$169 + s/h!!!!!NO WAY

I can make one of those for less than $35 or so.

Found one of these foot braces in a drawer and the light went off.

Did a couple of easy mods to it and bought a dog toy and added a strip of Velcro to it.

 

The best thing it actually works, as I couldn't wait to try it out in my backyard driving range for 100yds or less shots.

Here's my attempt, mouldable plastic pellets, 5.5oz(170grams), rolled out to approx 7" X 4" (use a wooden rolling pin/ board!) 

 

Total spend £8.50 ($11) as luckily already had the wrist strap 🙂

I've only hit a few balls with it but it feels like a revelation for me. I live outside of the USA so shipping is a nightmare so the OG model is no bueno for me.

 

Depends what you need to work on obviously but i definitely does what it says it would.
