Wasnt going to spend $400 on the limited Jailbird so made my own. 
 

Like New Bird from Callaway Preowned $120

2 x 35g weight $30 on Ebay to make 400g head

Superstroke Flatso 17 $35 on Ebay

 

Extended it 4 inches to make it 39 inches 

 

Feels amazing.

There is some for 110 now, if anyone has a free shipping coupon to add on to it, for like new, an amazing deal. Too bad no lefty options.

 

This also looks nicer and has a better insert than the $400 option IMO.

Nice! I was thinking of doing the same but I think the black and white contrast stripes are a big part of what makes it super easy to align. You should tape it off and paint it

That’s great!!!  Been playing one for close to 10 years it’s changed my putting.  I could never go back to conventional at this point.

Nice job! I'm in the process of doing the same thing with an O-works 7S. Found some 'gold' looking weights for the bottom and ordered the extension from Golfworks. I'm not sure if I want to go the full 17" though. I normally putt at 34", so was thinking of going 38" with one of the Superstroke XL grips instead.

I think the 7 Bird is actually a better head than the old versa one. The little square cutout almost functions like a 2-ball setup cue for me. It has the horizontal lines of the versa and the 7’s vertical lines. It’s a great head and I’m surprised it never caught on.

What’d you use to lengthen? Does 4 inches of extension on the stock shaft have an effect on anything?

I used a steel extension. Since this is a putter, shouldnt affect anything.

The only issue for me is this putter is not faced balanced.

Almost impossible. 
 

the weight at the end wont fit any extension. And you can only use graphite extension and feel like it throws off the balance.

I was thinking of buying a 36” with stroke lab, adding the weights to the head, putting on a superstroke that adds only 3.5 inches and not the full 17, and then choking down 3” or so on it. Thoughts?

Don't know how it will affect the swingweight but doesn't sound like a bad idea theoretically. 

 

But once again, extending 3.5 inches of graphite really isn't a great idea even if it's a putter and more importantly, you will have to grind down the insertion part to make the extension fit but that also can break easily when enough force is applied.

 

I would avoid stroke lab as much as I can but TETO

I wasn’t going to extend it, it’s 36”. Just add longer grip

 Not to be a stickler but it needs to HAVE a heavy tank shaft ....Without it this is a 1980s boob job, roundish water balloons--compared to the latest textured silicone implants..

It doesn't NEED to be identical, but if you wanted to have a heavier shaft, could do something like this... https://www.golfworks.com/pure-track-aluminum-steel-putter-shaft/p/ma0335/  or wait until the new Nippon putter shafts come to the US.

Can't really tell if you are joking or not, but if you are serious, then how do you explain Odyssey putting Stroke Lab for the tour players to test?

I am about to do this with a stroke lab version of the putter. What size weights did you put in and did you go to 39”?

Mine is 38" and I used 30g weights. 39" was too long and would grab my shirt (I'm 5'9" tall). I also used the 15" Superstroke 2.0 grip instead of the 17" 3.0. I find the 3.0 feels too thick for my liking.
