Picks Contest 

 

We will be making 3 picks each week.

I will post the Vegas line every Monday morning and we will be using that line to make our picks.

You may pick a side or a total. For example if the line is Tampa -7 vs New Orleans and the total points are 54 you may take Tampa -7 or New Orleans +7 or you could pick Under 54 points in the game or Over 54 points. So every game has 4 different picks that you could select from. 

These are the Point Values. 

A correct pick is worth 5 points.

A tie or push is worth +2 points.

There are Zero points for a loss. 

 

Announcing the Power Play. 

You may make a Power Play ONCE EVERY 4 Weeks ONLY. 

Example: A participant sees a pick that he feels strongly about and decides to designate it his Power Play. 

If his Power Play hits he wins +20 points.

If his Power Play pushes/ties he wins +5 points.

Now if his Power Play loses he LOSES -10 points. 

Once again The Power Play can only be used by a participant once every 4 weeks. 

The Power Play is optional, you do not have to use a Power Play. 

 

3 Dark Horse picks 

Select 3 teams that you believe will exceed the total wins for the season using the Vegas line I provided.  

each correct guess wins 10 points

 

Super Bowl Future pick

Name the two teams that will appear in SB LVlll and give the total points scored in the game. If both teams make it and you are within 7 points with your total points guess you win a 25 point bonus.

 I'm saying that I might give myself a little wiggle room regarding tomorrow afternoon's 3 PM (Eastern Time) deadline.

Sean Payton Told Russell Wilson To Stop Worrying About His Image And Brand: “You’re Not Running For Public Office”

 

 

 

 

The Denver Broncos brought in Sean Payton to help rejuvenate star quarterback, Russell Wilson, and one of the first things Payton did was sit down and have a heart-to-heart conversation with Wilson.

In a recent feature done by ESPN’s Seth Wickersham, Payton said he told Wilson to “focus less on Russell Inc.”

“WILL YOU F–KING STOP KISSING ALL THE BABIES?” HE TOLD WILSON AT ONE POINT. “YOU’RE NOT RUNNING FOR PUBLIC OFFICE.”

No extension will be needed, the commissioner is ready to reveal his picks for week 1.

 

I was but a wee lad when I first became interested in professional football. The year was 1970 and my family called New Baltimore, Michigan home. In a small house on the shore of Lake St. Clair was where I first became fascinated with the Detroit Lions. I would watch the games most Sunday's on TV and my father would take me to a game once a season at the old Tiger Stadium. I had a blue and silver Lions jersey that I wore with pride quite often. 

With T. Kelce not 100% or possibly out for the game I see that as a large missing piece for the KC offense. I'll take the points with the Lions in the first game of the new season that will be taking place tomorrow night. 

 

I lived in the DC area for most of the Joe Gibbs era. For 15 years I was a die hard Redskin fan. I attended many games at the old RFK Stadium. Great times. Finally the team (now known as the Commanders) has a new owner. Things will start to improve in DC and the fan base will begin to grow again as there will be a better product on the field. I don't see Arizona being able to hang as they are one of the weaker teams in the league. The burgundy and gold get the W in commanding fashion on their home field. 

 

Ever since he was a Redskin I have been a fan of #8. After he was franchise tagged twice by Dan Snyder he finally found a new team to play QB for. Captain Kirk has been with the Vikings now six seasons. I'm saying he makes plenty of fine throws and puts up enough points to win and cover at home against Tampa. It won't take that much effort because Baker M is playing QB for the Buccaneers. Purple Power baby.

The Vikings are my third pick.

I believe taking Mahomes at 1.1 is the play.  If it's a snake draft you'll be fine with picks 20 and 21 being solid players...waiting for a QB late could be tough (Russ, Goff, MJones...etc). 

Good luck and don't stress the draft...a third of your guys will get hurt and the waiver wire will be your friend.     

We think alike until about 3 minutes before the draft  I was oscillating between MaHomes and Josh and then a Blurb appears on my phone about Kelce and his ACL  

I know MaHomes is the premier QB in the league and very much deserved.  But I can’t help think that Noah Gray even though pretty good is not Kelce  

Hurts was a big consideration  

My initial instinct was Hurts because of his rushing prowess but he’s in the same division as Washington and he’s not a lock to finish QB 1 but someone who has been there even with not many weapons is Josh Allen  Coming into his prime  

His first game is against the stingy Jets defense but I still think he will be fine  So go Bills Bills Bills! 
I stacked him with Diggs and even stashed Dalton Kincaid on the bench 

So here we go! The season is here

... My son talked me into betting on NFL games about 4 years ago. So I do it just for fun and bet $10 a game. I usually come out ahead by a little every year, but last year lost my Word not allowed because the Bears couldn't cover the spread. It usually evens out over the season but last year sucked. There is always the desire to get in on a good line then later in the week some injury happens and the line changes or you just know the team is gonna struggle without a key player. Of course waiting and finding the line go from 2.5 to 3.5 is equally frustrating. I guess that why they call it gambling. 

... I can't imagine betting big $ on games you can't really afford to lose and actually trying to win, then finding out someone like Kielce won't be playing. 😱

The Ravens are going to make a statement in their home opener I will boldly give the 10

Houston is a better team and they will win some games this year but not in week 1

Give the 10 and take the Action Jackson to Odell... Ravens... bet them before they all go down with injuries.  Ravens -10

 

The Commanders are also playing their home opener and two QBs will be playing without much experience. I see the Commanders' defense tilting the field and the score in their home opener sans one Dan Snyder.  I can now root for my home team as the road to redemption begins in Week 1 2023.  A lot of changes might be on the horizon and that's fine with me.  Riverboat Ron, do you feel that door getting warm?  Arizona is going to be game for a while but the Commanders should be ready to make a statement now.  Bienemy has the offense moving the ball and turnovers from Arizona should be enough to cover the 7 Commanders -7

 

 

Pick 3 is a toss-up I want to try and stay with the home teams in their opening games

I would have been tempted to take Cousins in a non-primetime game and give the 6.  Against the Baker Mayfield-led Buccaneers but something says that might be too easy and that line is begging you to take the Vikings for some reason.  The Eagles are head over hill better than the crotchety Belichek lead Patriots, but New England nixed the Matt Patrica failed experiment!  What a joke.  Bill O'Brien is an upgrade and playing at home helps.  But Belichek's time to prepare his defense should help but the question is, what about the Phillies beasts on defense?  Crickets...Bill O'Brien will have the Patriots playing better but it will not be high flying give me the under in this game

Philly should cover the 3.5 but I don't like the half

The G Men were my fourth pick KB, and now that I read one of your bonus plays is NY plus the points at home I am changing a pick. That might be too big of a stage for Dallas in week one.

... Week 1 is always an education. So much up in the air and week 1 at least lets us know something about any team. No bigger game than Green Bay at Chicago. Is the Bears defense really much better under a defensive minded HC? Can they stop the run? Is Fields ready to be an NFL QB or still stuck in his college ways? Is Jordan Love ready to take over for Rodgers? Can they rely on 3 rookie WR's if the run game stalls? Are either team really ready for the heated rivalry that is now up in the air with Rodgers playing for the Jets? 

... And that's just 2 teams with many questions that need an answer. One thing is for sure, the Vikings won't win every single score game again. Not taking away from their play last season, but dayum they got lucky. A lot. And every team ranked in the top half has a shot at a SB. Someone always comes out of nowhere and surprises everyone. I LOVE week 1!!!

Week 1 is a complete toss up now since a lot of players don’t play in the preseason.  Teams with good coaches and good QB usually have the edge.  More teams lose games than win them.
