I was very worried early as the Washington defense was porous. 

The stop on 4th and 3 by the Huskies defense was a statement.

Then the Huskies had a solid drive and got their first TD.

You did it NCL!  Congrats my NC brother on winning this years regular season Picks Contest. You hung around near the top in the standings and when nsx finally experienced a few wobbly weeks you hit the gas and took over first place. Then once you were in 1st place you didn't have many hiccups, nope you stayed steady.

@NCLancer you have been doing this contest for a number of years and this year you snagged the trophy. Very nicely done sir. 

 

Will you be able to keep it going and also be the Playoffs Champ and/or the Overall champ as well? That remains to be seen. Good luck for the remainder of the Picks Season and enjoy your win!  🙂

When Penix missed the WIDE open receiver on 4th down, trailing 17-3, I felt like the game was over. Even though they didn’t give up points after that and got back to within 7, it just never felt like Michigan was in jeopardy of losing.

My Playoff Picks 

 

 

 

I stopped by a Psychic after golf yesterday and asked her what she thought my chances in the Playoff Contest were like taking into consideration that I finished the regular season sharing the basement with Triple Lindy. Madeline told me that her crystal ball said if I did some diligent studying that my Playoff Picks results would be much better compared to the regular season. I have studied for an hour this morning and feel fairly confident in my selections. 

 

Cleveland -2 1/2 

I am taking the Browns just because they have been given new life ever since the Fighting Blue Hen from Delaware took over the QB position. This will be a close game, but I am still going to give the points with the Road Team. Cleveland wins by a FG.

 

Kansas City -3 1/2 

I'll take Reed and Mahomes at home in a Playoff game every time. Miami's Waddle and Mostert are banged up. The Dolphins defense is also riddled with injuries. The Chiefs win by a TD or more. 

 

Buffalo -10

Steelers don't have a chance in this one. Buffalo is on a mission and will cover the largest spread this weekend with ease. 

 

Dallas -7 1/2  

The Cowboys were the only team to go a perfect 8-0 at home this season. Jordan Love is young and this on the road Playoff game will be a bit too much pressure for him so he will undoubtedly make a costly mistake or two. The Cowboys win this game easily by two TD's or more.  I will DIP my Dallas Pick. 

 

LA Rams +3 

The Rams have been sneaky recently. I see the Rams getting into a shoot out with the Lions. Stafford will make more of the big moment plays compared to Goff in this contest. I will take the points and I even feel there is a wee chance LA upsets Detroit and advances in the Playoffs. 

 

Tampa +2 1/2 

Philadelphia has Hurts and AJ Brown banged up. The Eagles O line is banged up too. Philly's defense has been reeling some of late no matter the opponent. Now Tampa has been all over the place of late, but I think the Bucs will be able to throw the ball and find a way to win at home and advance in the Playoffs. Tampa wins by a couple of points.

The QB who is barely legal vs. the one who will be on Medicare soon. Both are great stories.

Dolphins/Chiefs

 

Neither team has looked particularly good this year against playoff-caliber competition. Tyreek Hill may be the only Dolphin accustomed to the forecasted weather - high of 3°. How much of a factor will that be?

 

Steelers/Bills

 

Looks like a rout and another game where weather will be a factor, with 30mph winds and temps in the low 20s. But who will Allen throw the ball to - his receivers or Steelers D? Maybe he’ll just run.

 

Dallas/Green Bay

 

Well, no Ice Bowl in the Death Star at Jerry World, but will the pressure get to the Cowboys? Will McCarthy do something stupid, like call pass plays when up by 4 inside of 2 minutes and GB out of timeouts? Love is peaking at the right time, but Dak is also on a roll. Feels like a shootout.

 

Rams/Lions

 

This one is tasty, with all kinds of back stories. Revenge of Goff? Revenge of Stafford? Can Dan Campbell make decisions with his head instead of his heart? Can a team with both a Puka and a Tutu lose?
 

Philly/Tampa

 

Ugh. Philly couldn’t compete with the lowly NYG while Tampa barely squeaked by the worst team in the NFL and couldn’t even get into the end zone. Can Philly just turn it on now that the playoffs have arrived? Will Baker torch the Eagles’ D like most other teams have?

Sure surprised me that I could go above .500 in college football ( which I know very little about) for the season, and stink it up once again with my NFL Picks this year. Heck I study a bit for the Pro's and just wing it in college. Being a somewhat successful prognosticator is very hard. 

Did I win a date with the cheerleader of my choice? Might I have won a college game jersey from the University of my choice?

Bills -10 over Pittsburgh 

The under seems like the pick, but I think Buffalo runs away with it. They could cover the Under all on their own.

 

Rams +3 over Detroit

Better QB, better D, better coach

 

Philly -2.5 over Tampa

Philly is too talented not to cover this spread. With Rams and Dallas winning, this sends Philly to Dallas. Yet another tasty treat.

 

Dallas -7.5 over Green Bay

This is the one I’m most queasy about. The spread feels spot on. Dallas needs a big game to establish some real playoff momentum. McCarthy is more at risk than is widely believed.

 

Chiefs -3 over Miami

Miami is down 5 defensive starters and will be playing in weather unfit for humans. The spray tans won’t be visible under all of the neoprene.

 

Cleveland -2.5 over Houston 

I’d really like to see Houston win this one, but Flacco’s experience will matter and Cleveland’s D will force mistakes. This is a toss-up, though.

Playoffs Contest 

 

How it works.

 

Each player gets two Double It Please (DIP) plays to start. DIP's are totally optional. They can be used only during the first two weeks of the Playoffs. That is the Wild Card Weekend and the Divisional round weekend. You can use your DIP plays once each week during the first two weeks. Again this play is optional. 

 

Week 1 - Wildcard Weekend 

Pick either a side or an O/U in all the games. A DIP Play is allowed. 

Each winning pick is worth 20 points.

A loss is 0 points. 

A Push is worth 5 points. 

If you DIP'd a play and it hits you win 40 points. If you lose your DIP play it is -20 points, and again if you Push it is worth 5 points 

 

Week 2 - Divisional Round 

Pick a side AND an O/U in all the games. A DIP Play is allowed.

Each winning pick is worth 15 points. A loss is 0 points. A push is 5.

If you hit a DIP it is 30 points won. If you lose it's -15 points. A push is 5. 

 

* The Double It Play (always optional) at this point in the contest is now over. There is no DIP play involved during the final two weeks. 

 

Week 3 - Conference Championship Games

Pick a side AND an O/U in both games. 

A winning Pick is worth 10 points 

0 for a losing Pick.

A Push is worth 5 Points 

 

Week 4 - Super Bowl

Pick both the side and an O/U in the game. 

Each winning Pick is worth 25 points.

0 points for a losing Pick, and 5 for a Push. 

Submit a Total Points Scored in the game in the case we need a tiebreaker.
