I putt better bellying my wedge --- need putter suggestion

I currently have a Spider GT slant neck and I enjoy it's forgiveness as I don't hit the center of the face often. That's good for long and mid-range putts where I'm not expecting to make the putt but for the $$$ money putts I still dont have the ultimate confidence. I do like to mess around by bellying my 60 and I'm pretty good with it. Obviously to a degree given the lack of forgiveness, but something about how it sets up, possibly lie angle, makes me feel more comfortable over it. Any suggestions on a type of putter to replicate that look and feeling?

A #9 or an 8802? Heel shafted, replicates the look of your other 13 clubs, along with the toe flow.

Have the same issue. Few things I noticed. You want a high toe flow putter. You spider should be ok for this but a 9 style or slant neck blade may feel better. Flatter lie may help as well. For me the biggest thing I took was the length. When you belly a wedge it's plays like its .5"-1" longer than it's cut length. I tried increasing my putter by some length and had some success.

Curious, when you say bellying, do you mean actually anchoring the club?

Topping the ball, cutting it in half with the leading edge of the wedge.

I highly doubt the way a wedge sets up to a putt is what makes you feel more comfortable…what is actually making you feel more comfortable is the fact that you’re not supposed to be good at putting with a wedge so you’re taking a “who cares I’m not supposed to make this anyway” approach to the putt instead of a “there’s no excuse to miss this putt with my spider”

my recommendation (outside of just getting better under pressure) is to get a putter that has some “this thing looks like it’d be trash but is actually a decent putter” characteristics. Maybe it’s a Carbite, or an old Odyssey you found at a garage sale for $15…something with low perceived expectations but is actually legit.

Go to your local golf course and practice on the chipping/putting green for FREE.

5 balls. Strike them at varying degrees of strength to get a feel for green speed.

Line up short putts. Putt Putt Putt Putt Putt

Line up medium putts.... Putt Putt Putt Putt Putt

Line up long putts.... Lag 'em to a 3ft radius target area

Try various slopes.

Rinse and repeat until you consistently one putt the shorts and mediums (obviously not ever going to be 100%) and hit that 3ft radius on the long ones and then tighten up the radius and keep practicing.

That's how you "fix" putting.

Practice putting like you lost your driver if you want confidence in putting. 😉

Sounds good on paper, but the way to fix putting is Google and YouTube “influencers”  🤣

You are 100% spot on. If you want to putt well, well…..you gotta putt. A 5g difference in headweight or 1/2” change in length can make a huge difference. Nobody take the times to figure it out though.

Just add another one to the cart.

Don't even get me started on Youtube..........  LOL

Frankly, I'd recommend all folks putt with a 2 Way Putt Putt putter in practice. That isn't the putter I would use on the course, but in terms of learning direction and speed, it puts a lot of pressure on the golfer to be precise.

I got pretty good with one of those years ago.... LOL

Ok, I'm mostly joking about the 2-Way.... 🤣

If you’re not striking the putter in the center I would start there because that has to be corrected. I have found putters with toe hang are easier for me to strike in the middle of the face. It moves more on an arc and feels more like a regular golf shot instead of getting too mechanical with face-balanced putters. Could be worth a try.
