Opinions wanted on driver

Hello everyone, 

 

I had a random finding today at the range and wanted some opinions. 

 

I currently game a stealth 2, hzardus gen4 stiff shaft, 9 degree. I hit it straight 75% and fade the other 25. I had a chance to hit a new ping 425 max on the range, similar shaft and all as my stealth, but I could not stop hooking it. I mean it was bad. I didn’t change the settings from stock but I tried different grip positions. To put it in perspective, I’m not sure I could hook my stealth. 
 

Has anyone had this experience and what would be the fix?

Honestly, with 75% Straight and 25% Fade on the Stealth, it sounds to me like not much needs fixing. Forget the bad day with the Ping and move on.

Is that Ping driver draw biased?

Your wife called ahead and said give him a driver that will hook and he doesn’t like so I have money for more clothes.

If you were serious about the Ping as a second driver, you would put the head in the "flat" setting, or "flat-" setting and see if that helped negate the hook.

The Max sounds like the wrong club. You need to call Victor on this.

Could be swing related.  Golfers worry that over-swinging will cause poor ball-striking, but according to Harvey Penick, swinging harder will lead to better contact.

Better to choke down a shade for more control than to to try and "smooth" one into the fairway.  I should take my own advice more regularly though.

There's no need to diagnose his swing.

If he's rocking a Hzrdus Gen 4 and hitting fairways, in all likelihood the shaft in the G425 was a profile that was incompatible with his swing; like a more active shaft profile or a different kick point. Different weight distribution in the shaft and club overall is another factor. Physical differences in feel in the grip leading to a strong grip.... Weight distribution as mentioned causing imbalance........

 

Similar shaft leaves a lot out.

 

Yet, when one is hitting 75% with 25% only slightly errant.... I think it screams that differences in equipment being the harbinger of his swing's doom. I don't think "swing fault" when I see that.

Also, the G425 head is probably at least 5g heavier than the Stealth. That's a big change.
