I had Pro 225's and switched to JPX923 HMPros. I just don't play as much and I'm getting older so I need the distance and more forgiveness. The HM Pros are awesome. I've never tried i525's. The Hot Metals feel explosive. But still soft. They look great. They just really perform. Very workable for that kind of club. Nice flight. The spin isn't much lower for me than a forged iron so there's been no problem getting them to stop. Definitely very forgiving. Hits toward the toe go exactly the same distance and hits toward the heel lose about 5 yards. They are really long. Actually the only distance-cont. problem I have is trusting the distance they will go. Every time I've been well behind the hole it was because I took too much club. I really like them.,

The i525 PW is 45 degrees. The HMP PW is 42.5.

IMO there’s no way any club set’s other attributes overcome the

bag-full-o-wedges compromises and confusion associated with ego lofts at the HMP’s level.

I have the JPX923 HMPs and I think they are a great iron. I don't associate the word "forgiving" with Mizuno but these clubs are easy to hit. But are there even easier to hit GI irons, like the Ping G430 or Cobra Aerojet? Yes.  I can't compare the HMP to the i525 because I haven't hit the i525.

The golfer who plays the HMP has got to take at least a small divot.  The HMPs soles are not too wide for an iron in the GI category so they probably are not the best iron for a no divot, sweeper, kind of golfer. So, I'd say the JPX923 HMPs are forgiving within the Mizuno line and forgiving, but not exceedingly so, as compared to other OEMs.

The size is compact for a GI iron.  The overall shape is traditional. Mizuno does a good job with a two tone finish on the sole so the sole looks thinner that it is.  The top line is generous compared to a player's club but for a GI iron it's not that wide.  Offset is moderate. Bounce is moderate.

The faces are hot and ball speed is good. The distances are long but the lofts are also strong.  The clubs are high launching. I am sure the clubs are workable but the tendency is for a straight, high, ball flight as to be expected with GI clubs.  I don't try to hit fades or draws with irons too much anymore so I haven't really tried working the ball with these irons. You can hit a low shot with them.

One of the good things about the HMP is you can get all kinds of shafts without upcharge. The downside is if you go with a custom shaft expect 5-6 weeks for delivery.

The price of the HMPs is good: $962 for seven clubs.

Actually the lower bounce thinner soles are perfect for a picker/sweeper.  That's why I got em.

I’ve hit the Ping on launch monitor only and loved them. I played the HMP all season and just sold them.  Pro to the HMP:  long. Forgiving. Great looking. Cons: spin. Or lack thereof.  When playing early morning (dew—I play 90% of my rounds first thing) the clubs were uncontrollable.  Flying greens. Low spin balls that hit and ran or just flew distances that were unpredictable.  Out of any rough as well they were frustrating to play.   Great clubs on trackman. On the course I was a frustrated player.

I left the i525's for the HMP's as both are very exceptional irons. I like the looks and feel of the HMP's better. I can't say one is better than the other as I may have gone to the i525's if I had bought the HMP's 1st, I had to try Mizuno as I would again pick them over the i525's.....but for now my signature tell's it all. Went with Titleist T-350 as I wanted to venture off into the GI irons as they won't be going anywhere for they are an improvement in the last few sets of irons I've ever owned.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
