The LS ball is not very durable as well IMO.. Pretty funny bought 2 dozen yellow balls to get me through the winter. WHen I took them out of the box, the color was "spotty" and even orange in a few dimples, poor quality control...

It’s really annoying as I seriously like the flight, spin and distance they give. I play a lot in the wind and they’re as easy to control as the AVX which is my go to ball. But, they are a club longer throughout the bag and feel better.

Maybe I’ll just have to accept retiring balls and keep playing them.

I recently posted in another chrome soft thread about this. Terrible durability. Played the X and the LS for the first time last weekend and will never be going back. Like you, enjoyed the flight and feel but not even lasting three holes is a no-go. It just as you described. Literally knife-like cut in the cover.

Im sorry but if a ball looks like this after a few holes, Im out.

I’m really torn. Played again today and they’re such a good ball. Problem is I had to retire 2 through wear. If I have to change again it’s back to the AVX and shorter distances or try to find a comparable performance ball.

Interesting.  I've been testing Chrome Soft X for a while now, haven't seen a problem with durability.  I have two in the bag, still.  Maybe I haven't been playing them long enough.

Only, it's always been my belief, how we strike the ball affects durability.  A few buddies shred balls fast, each hits hard cuts or slices.

My stock shot is a baby draw so I wouldn’t say I’m overly harsh on the ball’s cover. What I have noticed is that the wetter the grass, the worse they cut up 🤔

That's new to me.

My stock is straight, and hit the ball pretty hard with irons.  Could the iron/wedge grooves be a factor?

I know it confused me too!

I’m using 714 AP2s so they shouldn’t be an issue. Wedges are Callaway Jaws Raw but don’t leave a mark on other balls.

Before current irons, 620 MBs, new irons are T100 and wedges are relatively new SM9.  Something's weird… LOL Sometimes weird batches hit the market.  Happens with Titleist now and again too.

It could be. Hopefully so and I can buy more that don’t have the same issues.

I think the cover looks way worse when it’s scuffed compared to a prov1. That’s definitely part of it. I agree I cut the X’s up like crazy. But I do on pro v’s but I have to inspect way closer. Maybe it’s the bright white finish and clear coat difference? I don’t see much performance difference

I draw my irons pretty significantly.  Cant even remember the last time I saw a ball move left-to-right. Ordinarily id agree with that statement but this is after just a few compressed iron shots.

The bright white cover is definitely a difference maker. You may be on to something. Is a clear coat something all balls have or just this one?

I've been playing CSX for well over a year and the durability has been fine.  I've had more durability issues with my fav ball Bridgestone BX than CSX.  I've now played two 18 rounds with my one #77 ball and it has some very light scuffing on a few dimples. I did hit a tree lol.  Maybe different attack angles and course conditions contribute but who knows.  For $60 a doz you want your balls to freakin hold up longer than 9 holes.
