Which golf ball should I play?

I really enjoy the performance of the Chrome Soft (not x or LS) I don’t feel that I lose any distance off the tee compared to the firmer feeling balls, and the spin on approach shots is perfect. It won’t rip back off the green on full wedge shots, but has enough spin that a 7iron will hold at or close to its pitch mark. Where it really stands out for me is around the green. I can hit a low, spinner with a 54* and have it hop couple times and come to a stop. I also use the yellow truvis pattern and you can really appreciate the green side spin with that ball.

This year's version of ProV1 is also supposed to be softer. I'd recommend ProV1X if you wanted more launch, but that's a pretty high compression.

The Chrome Soft you mention, isn't.  It's quite low.  Sounds pretty good for OP's purposes.

Or pony up $45 and see what ballnamic says.

But when I check what Bridgestone say its a ball for players above 105 mph ss. Thats not me unfortunately..

I hate that they market that.  It's just not accurate.  You would do really well in B XS and it fits all the parameters you mentioned. Tp5 and Srixon Diamond would be very good as well.

The swingspeed myth for ball fitting was busted years ago. Ignore anything that recommends a ball based on swingspeed. If you want higher trajectory and higher spin try Pro V1X, Chrome Soft X, Bridgestone Tour BX, Vice Pro, Maxfli Tour, or Srixon Z Star Diamond. The differences between these balls will be very small, so it would be personal preference.

I’m normally a lower ball hitter also. I play Pro V1X and Pro V1 left-dash when it is warm and striking it well. I hit my best shots/rounds with Pro Vs, but Pro V1X is just borderline too hard feeling and Left-dash is borderline too low spin.

In the end, I find myself playing Tour Response the most. Though not truly great in any one category it checks all the boxes:

- Feel good+

- Green approach spin good+

- Green side spin good

- Control in wind good
- Driver distance good+

- Iron distance good

- Durability good+

- Straight flight good

- Higher trajectory good+

- Build quality/consistency good+

I would say any two piece ball but recently play with a Titleist ProV1 , which MGS didn’t list for my slower SS,  impressed by distance and spin of the proV1 .

Im low hcp, like 4-5. Been scratch but that was more like 10-15 years ago. How would that affect my choice of ball in your opinion. Ive seen many good posts from you, youre obviously very knowledgeable! 54 years old now so wouldnt mind more distance.

Controlling the ball when it hits the green is IME a high priority for better players, and compressing premium balls typically isn't an issue.  I play to 4, too.  For sh** & giggles, I've hit my wife's soft inexpensive Callaway, it's slightly longer than ProV1x, about the same as DASH -ProV1x, only it runs off the greens, especially fast greens.  It's not a ball I would play because scoring IS my priority.  I would imagine it's yours as well?

Yes! Guessing my game as yours, or how I want my game to be is land it on the green and get it to stop. If I want it to roll out, like into wind and a elevated green, flag back, Im confident I can hit the ball low and let it roll out some. Ive found a few newer balls that Ive tested but basically been using 9-11 year old balls since I had so many left, Im not a big fan of the feel of these 2-piece super soft balls, but I cant deny they gave me good distance though and they felt lighter than the older prov1 and callaway IS ive been using, which to me feels like they go longer, but struggled to chip with those light rubber-feeling balls.
