Which golf ball should I play?

For me greenside control is the most important factor when it comes to golf balls. I practise chip and pitch a lot and have good mechanics. Can hit high low mid pitch shots. Stock shot I dont mind if it grabs a touch and roll out a little. But since Im a natural low launcher with both irons and driver I wouldnt mind a little more launch so I wanted to ask you guys what ball you would recommend and why. 8-10 years ago I bought a lot of new balls (prov1, callaway tour is) so havent tried many of the newer balls but I have to buy now during winter to be ready in march. I dont loose much balls and I had a few seasons in there I didnt played more than 3-5 rounds per year. Swingspeed driver 95-ish. With 7i around 82-84. Thanks!

I hope not. I also would want a little more distance with driver since I think it has happened some since Ive played 10 year old balls. If I could get higher launch I might achieve that. I found a chrome soft I tested around the green a few weeks ago, but not sure what year model it was. Also a ERC Soft I thought had a nice heavy (lack of a better word) feel. Maybe the CS stopped quicker but not 100% sure on that. Also tried a z-star I didnt like the feel of.

But when I check what Bridgestone say its a ball for players above 105 mph ss. Thats not me unfortunately..

RXS - more bite greenside - maybe 4/5yds shorter on irons. Not giving up much, if any driver distance, should help with increase spin

My favorite ball - it's not close

When I hit the green regardless of distance, the quickest stopping ball is the Vice Pro Plus (better than any other urethane ball that I've used).  NOTE: I have a swing speed much lower than yours.

Same swing speed here and I started a thread in the ball forum for average swing speed people.

I’ve really liked the Vice Pro ball. Similar to a Prov1 but provides a bit more launch off the irons and driver. Doesn’t feel as good as a Bridgestone but for me was the best combo of spin, distance and height.

Whats good about the Triad?

As far as all around performance it's just as good as any other ball. I don't have any data numbers in front of me but it's got good short game spin and, for me anyway, I had no problem with ball flight. An added minor bonus is you'll be able to identify your ball easier because not many play them :classic_biggrin:.

It's just another suggestion, (from a die hard W/S fan), in your search.

Snell Golf MTB Prime or MTB Prime X. Outstanding balls, nice price. Get the compression that fits you best. I like the X. They have a great alignment aid too.

Cheap option - Maxfli Tour X

Pro V1X or Tour BX or Tour BXS would be the premium options I'd recommend.

I cant believe once we get clubs we have to then worry about a ball that works too.. then is it the ball or the club that is or isnt working right??? Wth lol.. i swing the same speeds.. i personally find that the tour balls spin more much sideways off the drivers where the $25 to $30 balls like a supersoft which is one ball i use alot and find some of my best rounds to be with. Coming into green and chips i find to work well. Im a chip and slight run out kinda of guy. I cant do that stop at the hole kinda shots.. ive tryed it has cost me strokes.

Straighter ball flight,  will draw and fade but seems to cut off the bend. The ball has decent spin for pitches/chips, feels great off all clubs, and putts true. $10 cheaper that most in store urethane ball.

I play the Triad also

Same swing speed as you 95-96 with a driver

They putt wonderfully, fly straight, and are durable

Also $10 cheaper than most premium balls

Been playing them since Snell ran out of the Black

Yes I like w/s as well. Underrated brand. I played the v6 in the past. Is the triad just as good as the wilson staff ball? The tour.

Interesting sounds like you're a pretty good player, yet you didn't include the level of your game, just your perception of aspects.  Finding the right ball is about as subjective as it gets.  I play ProV1x and Dash-ProV1x, both are not balls mid to high caps typically use, but who knows.... that's my opinion.  Good luck.

Im low hcp, like 4-5. Been scratch but that was more like 10-15 years ago. How would that affect my choice of ball in your opinion. Ive seen many good posts from you, youre obviously very knowledgeable! 54 years old now so wouldnt mind more distance.
