Any pictures or info on the LAB DF3

I was ready to order a mezz broomstick but will wait until the df3 is released to see what that one is all about. My one complaint with the df2 has always been the size of it, so awkward in the golf bag and I don’t travel with it because I’m worried something that big gets damaged on a flight so if the df3 has the same vibe but in a smaller package I don’t think it will ever come out of the bag until a mezz 2 max or df4 challenges it way down the road. 

Other than df3 being smaller, I fail to see the advantages over df2.1...Is there a different composite material or???

I think the df3 is going to be better than the df2. I have no reason to believe that other than the fact they named it the df3 and not the df2 mini or something like that. Df3 implies a step forward, you wouldn’t put out iPhone 16 and not have it be better than iPhone 15.

I'm really anxious for the DF3 to officially come out.  It has a great look to it from the proto pictures I have seen and can't wait to hear more on it from the PGA show.

From an MOI / forgiveness / purely scientific perspective, it’s probably not an improvement. Where it is an improvement is towards selling more putters. I’ve got a DF2.1 and would love something that’s just normal size. I’m sure I’ll order the DF3 as soon it’s available. There’s probably a bunch of other golfers out there so who see the DF2.1’s size and it’s just a total non-starter.

I called Club Champion about it yesterday to see if they had a date they'd start fittings for it. Said they heard the rumors/leaked pics about it, but haven't received any info on it yet from LAB. My takeaway from that info is it seems unlikely to be hitting retail later this month as originally rumored/hoped.

In another LAB thread here this was referenced ...

 

... in the notes portion "Sam makes an exclusive announcement that their newest putter design, the DF3.0 will be released on January 23, 2024." 

which is  the first day of the PGA Show.  Don't know when LAB may actually start taking online orders.  Their online fitting works well.

My guess is purely aesthetics. It does look significantly better than the 2.1 imo.

Sam has said on the Facebook fan page 1-23-24 but I think he said standard and CB for now with broom and armlock later in the year

Fairly certain it will be less forgiving (MOI, etc) than the DF2. How much is TBD. The trade off for people may very well be a putter that’s slightly easier on the eyes for less tech on their side. I certainly think it will still be extremely forgiving, don’t get me wrong, on top of the lie angle balance, this putter should be a winner IMO. If the tech in the link helps guys out this certainly will. 
 

I feel like in terms of forgiveness the link is the equivalent of blades, the DF3/Mezz are players irons and the DF2 is high handicap cavity back irons.  They’re all good but maybe suited to different people. I happen to use irons that probably don’t give me as much help as I need, but I love the look and feel so I use them. Many will do the same with LAB’s Link and DF3 I believe, when really the DF2 would help them the most but they just can’t get along with the look. Kinda like I just can’t stand over a ball staring at a fat (while helpful) cavity back head with a thick top line behind the ball.  Hopefully that all makes sense lol

I have 2 DF2.1s and originally ball placement and what I was going to look at was the biggest adjustment.  Your right MOI / forgiveness has to have been deceased maybe 10-20%.  But with the shaft closer to the face the shaft lean has to be less.  It's probably now 1.5-2 degrees.  It looks like they just clipped the corners of the putter face and removed the bulk of the area that the shaft is inserted into.  The rest of the dimensions look fairly untouched.  I will probably sell one of my DF2.1 and get a DF3 after I get to test one out of a PGASS.
