I think they had to alter the criteria to fill the field. Kuchar won the players which qualifies here. Stricker maybe just is a one off because they needed a body?

There is actually a waiting list of players that want to get in the event with their children. It was mentioned in an article on the Strickers before the event began.

NBC knows who moves the needle, IOW who fans recognize, and Duval doesn’t qualify for either.

Same when leaderboards on tv, when 2 players tied for a certain score, the “name” player will be listed ahead of a lesser name, even though the lesser name is further along in their round.

This isn’t journalism.

Correct. They even gave Tiger and cub a preferred tee time despite being in the lower half of the table after day 1.

I think your expectations might be a tad lofty.  How else does a network keep viewers for off-season season sports TV but to show generally recognized players.

Journalism?

If you want journalism, switch over to PBS or the C-SPAN.

Ferguson, I think your interpretation of my post has a bit of “reading too much into my comments”.

Wherein my post did I refer to my expectations?

My commentary, totally relates to the practices networks follow to keep/gain viewership.

Did I say I “wanted” journalism?

Discuss my statements, fine, but “reading my mind” and knowing and stating my motivation for those statements?

No.  I think I nailed it.

True, and reminded me of this:

The key is to encourage them. My dad said the secret of getting kids to get good is that you want to compliment them, not fake compliments but tell them that you’re improving, this is what we’ve got to do to get to the next level, you’re doing great, I’m really proud of you, and then every once in a while throw in a little bit of, not criticism, but got to make a few changes, you’ve got to make a change here but then add more compliments.

In the early days when they’re having fun with golf, tell them it’s time to go, moms got dinner ready or something, because if they leave when they’re having the most fun, they’ll want to come back.

A lot of parents just look at the negative things they’re doing instead of trying to accentuate the positive. I take people out to my ranches after I finish them and show them around and say, “What did you think of the ranch?” and they say, “Those are the biggest cow turds I’ve ever seen in my life.” That’s what some people see. They just see the cow turds, including with their kids. I’ll say, “You really need to focus on the good parts of every person and sort of develop those things.” And just love them; that’s the main thing.

Johnny Miller.

Really not sure what you had going on before responding to that post, my guy. Not as bad as you trying to explain to people with addictions that they just need to step up and get better, but you ride some of the tallest horses I've ever come across on these forums. Your jokes are whatever, but the way you decide you know best and talk down to others at times on here is truly crass.
