Yep. And that usually boils down to sheltered people who don’t understand self hate and how that projects outward.

And I got out there and shot like 80. (He shot 79.) I got home and had an anxiety attack that lasted four days; it was the worst feeling ever.”

I think it comes down to ppl that have done just as bad as someone (if not worse) and sit back and judge and talk 💩 about that person to feel better about themselves. I can also say that I’m most likely to be into other ppl’s drama and judge and talk 💩 when I’m not in a good place with myself. It’s a good barometer. I stopped drinking many years ago (I mean I will have an occasional beer or 2) but that’s it. And I can assure you my ‘worst moments’ would most likely eclipse a lot and be right on par w/many others. But I’m FAR from that person today. Perhaps why I’m not going to sit back and trash this human being for being, well human.

I quit drinking, its made my life much better. I know first hand people can get stuck in the drinking cycle.  One more time, I like when good things happen to people after they make changes.

I simply looked back and saw that every bad/regrettable thing that happened was a direct result of over consumption of alcohol. Sure a lot of really “fun” and exciting things happened as a result as well, but the bad starts eclipsing the “fun” and it’s time to make a change. It wasn’t hard for me and it was a choice I’m glad I made. 
 

*most likely over sharing for a golf site, but oh well 🤷🏼‍♂️

Definitely rooting for him to stay dry. He’s obviously hardcore alcoholic and those are tough odds to overcome 

 

But as you say, he’s seemingly a different person undrunk

 

Tragic, in my 20s, I worked with a guy, looked like George Clooney, it was embarrassing to even go out to a bar with him, babe magnet. Strong in business, everyone loved the guy.

 

Drank himself to death at 45 years old.

Oh yea. That’s major league “ I hate me “. In my opinion.  Call it self sabotage , whatever catch phrase you like.  Same deal.  
 

I do like that he’s so far calling himself out.  He’s not claiming hereditary issues , or somebody else didn’t do something etc. we all tend to want to leave that way. But in my experience , it never gets better until we look at self and tell him he’s to blame.

Oh for sure.  Absolutely correct. Those who’d hate him now , are folks who are miserable.  And I’m not judging them for misery. I know and understand that . It’s a daily battle for me . Happiness  is easy to find but fleeting. And often is things that are bad for us.  Joy is what we should search for. It lasts.  And is derived of the important and good things. 
 

I’ve always counted myself lucky.  I’m not a complete teetotaler. But.  I probably haven’t drank in 10 years at least.  Although there’s good peach brandy etc in the house. I just don’t crave it. I’m a good time drinker.  It appeals to me zero percent when I’m down or stressed. I don’t like to be foggy headed. At all.  Being inebriated isn’t a comforting feeling to me.  It’s not an escape. It actually causes anxiety for me.  
 

Hope he stays sober if for no other reason than to make the haters jealous.  Like he’s said. If one persons sees the example and examines themselves, it’s a win.

That’s the problem with folks who seem to have it all.  Huge expectations.. you always let yourself down.    You see it in successful comedians a lot.  Belushi , Farley , Candy etc. Uber talented guys. Everyone on earth loves you.  Heavy duty weight to carry.
