PXG Gen 7 Irons

Recommended Posts

Hope this is accurate.  I’d love to test the new Gen 7 check the #’s in terms of distance and forgiveness.  Feel not concerned about because I know they’ll feel amazing.    I’d be interested in replacing just 1 longer irons in my bag to give me just tad boost in distance and forgiveness to round out my 0317’s.  My 6 iron is killing me right now lolololol….

Any updates I have 10 days left on my 30 day return for the Gen 6"s?

Even though I haven't heard anything. I doubt you will hear anything before mid March.

But even with this being said. You know it's possible it could be on the day after you were eligible for a return !!

I’m not sure about March / April.  The guy that gave me the exact date the 0317 T release said to look for the whole line to be revamped in August / September and then move to an alternating driver and fairway vs. irons release.  Who knows?

One thing I keep wondering is what happens to the Gen 6 drivers, fairways and hybrids?  Will there be three lines of Black Ops, Gen 7 and 0211?  Did Black Ops already replace them?  Will the Gen 7 irons not be “Gen X”?  And what happens to the 0211 line that should be ready for an update?

At this point, we are all just guessing.  I haven’t seen anything on the PGA Conforming list.  But, it’s still fun to speculate.

I’ll give them credit, the 0317 T’s and Black Ops driver are top notch.  I’d like to refresh my Gen 5 fairway and hybrid.  But, it will take the improvement level of the Black Ops driver to get me to move to new fairway and hybrid.  I just haven’t felt the need to do that testing yet.

The way I look at all of this, buy them all.   If you replace anything due to a new release you can just frame what you have now and hang it on a wall.

I'm gonna show my wife your post and see if she'll go along with it.😅

Thanks me too double chrome looks the best to me. When you think 7 will come out?MRCH-15-GEN6-Irons-874x874-Crome-P.png?s

Late summer or fall at the earliest IMO. Not sure where everyone is getting their ‘insider sources’ or ‘little birdie’ told me speak, but PXG has been consistent on saying the Gen 6 line will have a longer cycle versus other releases. If they were going to release in March or April, they would’ve popped up in fitting carts, conforming lists, leaked photos, etc. Anything released between April and fall isn’t ideal from a business and marketing perspective since most people (who is looking to buy new clubs) usually purchase in the off season or release dates with everyone else (either fall or February). Not sure what more they can do since it already has the thinnest face and just released the double chrome and double black models (usually when other OEMs do the new color scheme releases, it’s about a year until the next version).

Nobody saw Gen6 last year until 3/23 and stores didn't get heads until a day or 2 prior to release day. It's how PXG works!

The Gen 6 XP's I have are so good I can't imagine them making an iron that could perform much better. I do wish I would have waited to buy them until the double chrome came out but it is what is.

I’m trying to mix some OG 0311 ST 100% milled 8-W in so all I need to do is change long irons ….

The Blacl Ops driver and wood line up is the GEN 7 woods series is my best guess. There will be a Gen7 iron line up to replace the Gen 6. By the looks of things they may be a new naming convention moving forward and they are going away from the Gen series names. Lets all hurry up and wait and time will tell.

I had a tough time deciding between the double chrome and double black. I’ve always wanted a set of black irons so I ultimately opted for the double black with Steelfiber Private Reserve. Absolutely love the looks, along with the performance. Depending on the looks/performance of the Gen 7, I may pick up a set of the double chrome in the same specs.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
