I've heard that song a thousand times, and never paid much attention to the solo.  It was just a blurry part of the song that I never paid much attention to.

I think the greatness of a solo isn’t so much what’s in it, but what isn’t.  Sort of like Aenemated saying the twiddling of Dicky gets tedious.

 

Any Neil solo is so simple, but so emotional.  The Weld version of this song is even more simple than this one.  Starting around 5 minutes in this one is Neil just being Neil.

 

I have seen him a couple of times and he inserts this type solo into Down by the River, Cortez, Cinnamon Girl, etc.

JJ Grey is a pretty underrated Guitarist, heck musician in general. I don't think many people know who he is. Solo starts at 7:40 but I'd recommend the entire video. Love this guys music.

Billy is an egomaniacal wacko - but he's also an incredible guitar player that doesn't often come across as such.

Yeah.  Vito Bratta could THROW DOWN.    My favorite solo is Beyond the Realms of Death by Judas Priest.
