Honey....have you seen those old all black Titleist clubs I had.  I think they are around here somewhere.  Maybe check the garage or basement.  Oh, found them, damn, the kids have been using them to play street hockey.  Wait, I think I can salvage 5-9...gonna give them a try this weekend....maybe they still have a bit of magic in them.

Hopefully he drives the ball well this week.   It seems like accuracy off the tee has been his nemesis for a while.

He's been very outspoken against the tour's leadership for someone who is (looks up OWGR) 331st in the world. Will be excited to see him back up his talk this week. Do I think the tour has handled things well over the last few years....no. Do I think Jimmy ******* Walker should be the person shouting it from the rooftops....also no. 

 

On the other hand, he is coming into this event WHITE HOT...

If by "for awhile" you mean " functionally his entire career" then yeah, agreed. 😅

It's actually impressive how consistently he has been at the bottom of the driving accuracy leaderboard. Over the last 15 years he has averaged around 180th, and that has not been due to good years and bad years....he was 170th-190th basically the entire time with that one year he played a 42" driver being the only outlier, getting him 145th. Having the Autoflex in there is a pretty clear sign that "I don't care where it goes, as long as it's far". 😆

Maybe he should try stiffer shafts. 🤣  I mean XX Autoflex?  Seems his old driver had a Ventus Black 9X.  That seems a bit crazy to me for his swing speed.

I know he's had health issues, but +8 in round 1 is not gonna cut it.  This bag while cool isn't exactly the most forgiving.  Wonder how he'd do with some cavity backs and forgiving shafts.   -4 shots gained off the tee.  -1.5 shots gained approach.  1 fairway hit (yes 1 on huge fairways).  Last in driving distance.  He could probably make golf easier.  I don't know him.  Is he simply stubborn?

How on earth is his driving distance 262 and his longest is 332?  I feel like something with the stats might be off there.

I think it's measured on two holes facing opposite directions, so the results can be skewed sometimes depending on shot choice or strike or even a shifting wind. It doesn't matter if they land on the fairway or not.

That could be, I looked at his hole by hole and he had a few short ones, but they more looked like layup shots. Lots in that 280+ range, so the 262 seemed very odd to me.    But I don't know how they decide that stuff, lol.  

 

Like if one of their holes were 14 or 16 where he hit complete stinkers that could skew it for sure.

Having an up and down career probably puts him in a position too see more than a player who's only had success or is currently riding the immense gravy train the top players are on.

 

Everything is strawberries and cream for folks at the top, they often have an, "It's fine for me, don't change a thing!" attitude.

Correct, they choose the holes by selecting one down/into the wind on holes where guys are most likely to hit driver. Some numbers are skewed if guys aren’t hitting driver.

The lion's share of the bleeding is happening off the tee then, so what would cavity back irons and "forgiving shafts" do to help? He arguably already has a pretty friendly set of shafts in his irons anyway, are you suggesting he go softer? How would that help?

Jimmy Walker finished one spot away from DFL this past week. Shot +13 in two days' work. I look forward to more comments from him about the PGA Tour that he is quickly playing himself off of...

Big Improvement this week! Jimmy finished 148th in the field vs 153rd last week. In about 29 more starts, at this pace, he will be in contention. Just need a few more major medicals and career money exemption years.
