Love to hear feedback on the TSR 1 driver

Reshafted all my clubs over the winter. Very happy but haven't found the right shaft for the driver yet.

Set up a fitting at the Titleist Fitting Centre north of Toronto. Love the idea that it's outdoor (with a launch monitor).

Being a low spin player I tend to get wacky numbers when just on a launch monitor so seeing my flight will be so helpful.

Mid 60s age wise, finally had to go "reg" in all my clubs. So much easier to launch, more spin and distance.

Surprised by how light my shafts are now in my irons. Went 115 gm to mid 70s. Yet still a single handicap but have had to go forward a tee block 2-3 years ago :(.

Very interested in the TRS 1 driver. Hoping the lighter head and shaft will help with distance.

From what Ive read I like that it's a neutral head and not draw biased as I prefer to work the ball.

Like to hear about your experiences with it. Sure it's not for everyone.

Thanks and FORE!!!

I tried one briefly. Very easy to swing, hit a lot of fairways. I didn’t think it gave me normal distance and the head felt like us was going to snap off on toe hits.

Traded it in for a TSr2 w/ hazrdus red 50 CB regular flex. Couldn’t be happier. It’s the most neutral feeling club I’ve ever owned. Still hitting lots of fairways. Picked a little distance, probably due to just feeling confident. Very stable on miss hits.

I've been using one, and previously the TS1 and TSi1, and have been very satisfied. I'm 71, with back issues that have slowed my swing down considerably. The TSR1 is capable of a little extra distance with the proper shaft. I wasn't a fan of the stock Speedmesh that came in mine. I've experimented with several models Graphite Design Tour AD's, UST TP4HD and TSPX. All were a huge improvement over the stock shaft for me. It is easy to launch, very east to hit straight, and adjustable enough to fit most swings. I also have a TSR2 head that is very good, but the TSR1 is easier for me to keep in the air. I would suggest trying both with a shaft that fits you, if that option is available.

I am playing a TSR1 12* head with a Ventus TR Red 5R shaft.  I also bought a 15 gram weight to get the swing weight to D3 or so.

I was fit into a TSR2 11* head set to 12.5, with a HZRDus Red 5 5.0.  That shaft was no good for me.  The Ventus Red in the TSR2 helped a lot.  The TSR1 is even better.

Surprisingly, I have tried an 11* TSR3 with the Ventus, and initial results have been good.  I will figure out which I like better in a month or two.  But the TSR1 has been very good.

I forgot to mention that I play TSR1 hybrids - 5, 6 and 7-hybrid - with Atmos tour Spec Red 75 gram shafts.  They are really easy to hit straight for me.

I also forgot to mention that another site came out with driver recommendations for slower swing players.  The TSR1 did not make their top 5, but if you look at the data, the carry distance and overall distance for the TSR1 was within a half yard of the overall distance leader.  The straight shot percentage was also good.

Nelly Korda played a TSR1 driver with a 60 gram shaft; it seems to be an under appreciated club.

My TSR1 12* feels better and is easier to hit than my TSR2 11*.  Also, I am playing a Ventus TR Red 5R shaft, and at my swing speed I think that I need more spin - hence the TSR1 seems to work better on Trackman and in a dome.  Having said that, my TSR3 11* with the Ventus Red has also given me some good numbers.

We'll see what happens outside.

I am wondering if Titleist will go the larger profile/shallower route for the next generation of the 1 heads.  Sort of like the Ping 10K or the iQ10 Max.

I moved to the Tsr1 in a 12* with a Adila assent 40 incredibly forgiving fairway finder , so easy to swing . I find it a touch longer  and more forgiving than the Paradym x driver I had last year . I demoed the Tsr2 11* driver and found it didn't spin enough for me . I am 67 with declining  swing speed so the light weight of the Tsr 1 is perfect for me .

Keep in mind that the TSR1 and TSi1 series achieve their light-weight savings mostly from a light shaft and light grip.  The heads themselves might be only 2g lighter than a TSR2/TSi2 head (no head-weight installed).  I've weighed both driver and hybrids of both TSR and TSi series.   I love my TSR1 hybrids as they are super forgiving -> I use a stock Evenflow White 90S shafts, rather than a light-weight shaft.  I bought my wife a nice used TSi2 12* with a 45L shaft and she hits well.  I game a TSR3 18* 5w as well, as I play it shorter and like the ability to move the sole weight to the toe.

I think it unfortunate that TSR1/TSi1 get labeled as "old-man's" gear because of their marketed light-weight'ness, when in fact the heads are very forgiving and can be gamed by any golfer with the use of a heavier shaft.

Ping also have their "HL" version of the G430, where they just use a lighter removable head-weight, and pair it with a light shaft playing to 46", and light grip,.  From their website:  "Custom engineered with lighter head weights, shaft and grip, the overall system is lighter so you’ll swing faster and generate more ball speed for higher-launching, longer-carrying shots across the entire set."
