Looking forward to the content. I switched from the D9F to the DynaPower forged this year and they are the best performing irons for me that I have ever played.

From earlier testing I think a lot of fun will be had with the entire current lineup so grats to everyone who's getting fit tomorrow. Looking forward to feedback on the new AI kit Wilson just put out. 

 

The irons & wedges are the talk of the town now but the Dynapwr drivers and woods still should not be slept on. The 3 wood finally kicked out my Adams that had been terrorizing fairways for some time and the Carbon driver is the best feeling thing I've ever hit off of a tee. 

 

The fitting followed by a full day on the course the day after is peak goodness.

Finally back at the hotel, and wow, what a day it’s been! The alarm went off at 3:30 am, but I was already awake, buzzing with anticipation for the days ahead. The airport was the busiest I’ve ever seen it for a 6 am flight, but I managed to check my bag in on time and get through security with just enough time to grab a quick bite. I kept a close eye on my clubs using an Apple AirTag to ensure they were on the first leg to Atlanta. Quick intros with @Shilgy and we were on our way!

 

Once we landed in Atlanta, we had about an hour layover, which gave me more time to get to know one of the four lucky members joining me on this adventure. Our conversations were filled with, "I can’t believe this is real," and "Why us?" We all just want to do a good job representing GolfWRX and its community.

 

The layover in Atlanta was stressful. I’m convinced tracking bags with AirTags does more harm than good. My clubs didn’t make it to the plane until about five minutes before takeoff. That was a nerve-wracking 40 minutes at the gate. Thankfully, the next leg of the trip was short—just an hour or so in the air. Then, we were off to the rental agency to get the car for the 1.5-hour drive from Raleigh to Pinehurst.

 

7:00 pm – We’ve Arrived!

 

No time to waste—we had a dinner reservation at Pinehurst Brewery at 7 pm to meet the Wilson team and talk shop. The food was great, conversations were flowing, and good times were had by all. The real challenge was trying to find out what’s next without sounding too eager. No luck… Details are still under wraps. All we know is to meet for breakfast at 8 am, and we’ll go from there.

 

Dinner and downtime often produce the best conversations, so here are some highlights:

• Wilson Staff is SERIOUS about competing in the golf space. This isn’t a flash-in-the-pan marketing attempt. They have a genuine passion for the game, and talking with each of them made it clear they are on a mission.
• We’ll be learning more about the AI fitting process, everything that has gone into building it, and how it works. I’m excited about this. I initially thought it would be a redesigned Mizuno-type fitting tool, but based on my conversations with Bob and Ed, I have high expectations. (Yes, I’m already on a first-name basis!)
• Security around No. 2 is tight. No late-night strolls down the fairway, imagining coming to the 18th with a one-shot lead needing to make a tough par to win the US Open.
• Our hotel is NICE. No budget lodging here.
• Apparently, the breakfast buffet is worth the trip alone. I’ll report back in the morning.

I’m sure there’s more to share, but I’m ready for bed and still need to call my wife and kid. Thanks for following along, and please keep your questions coming. Tomorrow will be tough for us to check throughout the day, so get them in before 10 am Eastern, as that's when the chaos begins. I’ve saved some of the questions on my phone and will do my best to get some insights.

It’s all pretty much been covered…we’ll likely have some different takes on tomorrow’s fitting as we all have different needs. Definitely excited to get fit by guys that are as big a golf nerds as the rest of us.🙄

Now I know why @Olson12 ditched us all at the bar, he had to come steal the recap! Certainly summed up the day nicely, although the Houston crew didn’t get in till a bit later, if I’m critiquing his post 😂. Wilson’s team is certainly committed to growing their presence and I’m looking forward to what tomorrow has in store for us.

The Houston group was last to arrive but we made it into town a little after 8 and the reception from the Wilson folks at dinner was great. Some things were teased already, looking forward to getting into everything tomorrow which sounds like it will be a full day of testing. Wilson has a passionate team that seems just as excited to show off what they have been working on as we are to swing it. There is nothing quite like talking golf with other golf nerds. But as @Olson12 @TLUBulldogGolf @TM golf guy have touched on the dinner last night was as if you sat down with the most golf passionate golf nerds on GolfWRX. Which was awesome!  One moment that sticks out is they all went nuts when the Golf Channel showed Wille Mack III making it through to the US Open during final qualifying yesterday.  He is one of “their guys” playing Wilson sticks and they were all so happy for him.

 

  To a man(and one woman) none of them have a “job” it seems.  They are committed to providing golfers with the best equipment available.

 

Looking forward to a most enjoyable day with the team and recaps galore are sure to follow….stay tuned!

Yes! Willie Mack has had a great career since competing on Circuts like the up and coming APGA Tour, receiving his Korn Ferry Tour Card and now being on the Major Stage at the US Open. I mention in the forum for this trip of how cool it would be to play with him at Pinehurst No. 10 and pick his brain about competitive golf. I didn’t even think he’d be qualifying ahead of the event (which) why not right? He is a tour pro. Anyway when that news hit the feed I was ecstatic because he is so fun to watch. Cool, calm and collected. And he bags Wilson!

 

I can only imagine what it was like talking with Wilson team as well. I have looked their products and product marketing have thought about how cool it would be to work for a re-emerging golf brand that is breaking a code that the some of the major brands are still trying to figure out.

 

Keep up the updates fellas, the “golf nerd” in me is surely absorbing in all the info. Maybe throw my GolfWRX handle at the Wilson guys and see if they’d want to connect professionally from a golf marketing standpoint. Dream job for me! 😂

Looks like Wilson just dropped pics of their new Utility Iron! If any of you all get a chance to test it out make sure to take pics/video and let us know how and why they fit that into your bag!
