History: This is the 5th year for the event. In 2023, Cheyenne Knight and Elizabeth Szokol (aka the Elizabethan Knights) shot a final round 65 to beat Kelly Tan and Matilda Castren by one stroke. It was Cheyenne's 2nd LPGA win, and Elizabeth's first.

With a week off between this year's tournament and the Evian, we'll see a stronger field compared to last year when the Evian was scheduled the following week.

Pairings are listed in this article.  Some dynamite, if slightly unexpected, teams....Ronnie/Jeeno, JYK/Nasa, Janet/Furue.  Lexi/Brooke should be able to improve over last years missed cut.  Sei Young Kim with Jiwon Jeon perhaps a bit of a sleeper.

I just arrived here at the Dow Championship. Weather looks great with a chance of some rain on Saturday.
My field rating for this event is a very surprising 56%, way up from 25% last year when the Evian Championship was the following week. This year there is a week off before the players have to fly to France, and that change has resulted in a much stronger field!
My breakdown is a solid 63% from the LPGA Priority List and 49% from the Rolex Rankings.
Seven of the top ten players in the world will be in attendance:
Jin Young Ko (3)
Ruoning Yin (4)
Amy Yang (5)
Celine Boutier (6)
Charley Hull (8)
Rose Zhang (9)
Yuka Saso (10)
Top ten players skipping the event this week:
Nelly Korda (1)
Lilia Vu (2)

Other stuff:
Jenny Shin (23) and Yuna Nishimura (19) had their cut streaks stopped this past weekend. Ally Ewing (19) now has the longest current streak.
Amy Yang's victory at the KPMG earned her a spot at this year's Olympic games. It was the first victory for a player from South Korea this year.
Gabriela Ruffels increases her lead in the Louise Suggs Rookie of the Year race. She now has 407 points to Jin Hee Im's 376. But the big move was made by Mao Saigo who now has 365 points.

As there always is after a major championship, there were some big moves in the Rolex Rankings this week:
Lilia Vu's second place finish keeps her at No.2, and although she is miles away from the top spot, she now has a huge lead over third place. Jin Young Ko moves up a spot into the 3rd position.
Amy Yang makes the most important move this week, exploding from number 20 to 5.
Ally Ewing moves from 19 to 16, and came within one spot of making the Olympic games. She needed a top 15 to get in.
Lexi Thompson climbs from 39 to 33.
Hinako Shibuno jumps from 62 to 49.
Mao Saigo leaps from 61 to 51.
Esther Henseleit advances from 70 to 64.
Sarah Schmelzel bounces up from 73 to 64.
Outside the top 100:
Bianca Pagdanganan springs up from 126 to 113.
Lauren Hartlage skyrockets from 273 to 133.
Caroline Inglis catapults from 296 to 168.

Actually, it's Lydia and Danielle, not Megan. Yes, both are definitely off form.

Meh. Had to be one of the most blah rounds of televised LPGA rounds in recent memory. 

 

For starters, foursomes is not going to produce many fireworks. Par is a good score. 

 

Then you throw in the fact that your feature groups are in the middle of their rounds with the ridiculous early morning coverage. 

 

Windy conditions in the morning didn't help much, as the afternoon wave managed to grab 14 of the top 15 spots on the leaderboard. 

 

Hopefully it's a little more exciting tomorrow with four-ball.
