Ai smoke TD max, why so many popping up for sale

I haven’t seen one but have read things on them and they peak my interest.  Pretty staggering for a somewhat limited release that so many are showing up in the for sale forum.  People just flipping them or really nothing that special.  So many good drivers out these days.  Have a 10K, but would love to try somewhere.

The same reason any club that gets a super long thread gets lots of BST clubs. Lots of people buy without hitting and then sell when they’re not the magic fix they’re looking for. Also, Callaway/retailers have 2x trade going now so people are getting good value for used clubs and can sell the Max for more than what their used clubs would go for.

I agree with the above post.  But Also, I think some bought it thinking it was going to be the TD but more forgiving, whereas it is between the TD and Max.  Very forgiving driver with great distance but not elite distance.  Exactly what I wanted though.  Lost the toe hook, and have yet to have a duck hook.  Avg driving distance is way up.

 

Most of what I have seen for reasons of people listing in BST is a higher spin rate or having the wrong loft.

I think its due to the 2x trade and and its a new release, so its return is very high right now. People either are flipping it, or just trying it on a flyer.

It’s a great driver. Spectacular IMO. A lot of golfers are not great drivers of the golf ball. So they’re always buying and trying the next possible savior. And there are lots of great clubs out there.

Gaming mine and very pleased.  Excellent distance and the forgiveness is stellar for a low spin head.  No fade bias but can hit one if I need to.  Looks good, sounds good, performs well.

It’s a niche product.

 

companies intentionally have some separation in their product lines.  The TD max sits in between two core products (ddd and max).  It’s likely most could get either the ddd or the max to play extremely similar to a the TD max with a proper fir and adjustments.  

 

those you see on up for sale just didn’t see that much of a difference between the max or ddd, which is to be expected.  For those looking for a subtle difference they likely can find it 🙂

In my case I ordered one from Fairway golf (8.5* head) that won’t be here until Friday. Didn’t feel like waiting weeks so I went to the local golf shop and picked up a 9* head. When the 8.5* gets here I’ll be selling the 9*.

I don’t think the difference between TD and TD max is subtle. For me, it’s night and day! At address they look comparable but the max launches so much higher and is significantly easier to turn over right to left. My TD is low and falls right. The TD max is high and falls left (or snipes left lol)

I would echo a lot of what has been said above, particularly with the 2X trade-in bonus.  

 

Mine replaced a Ping G430 LST (which is a FANTASTIC driver in and of itself).  To be honest, distance is probably a touch better with the TD Max and forgiveness is a wash, but the 2X bonus and overall better looks (to me) sold me on the Callaway.

I agree on the product being niche, and your assessment that a properly adjusted core product could perform similarly.

 

I think the hype of the TD Max in the forums increased the demand for it beyond what was necessary. Naturally, it would follow that the BST will populate.

 

It happens with every hype cycle in equipment - doesn't mean it's wrong or bad - just that people are curious and want to try stuff out.

It's a cycle so predictable that it nearly always results in a thread exactly like this one. 🙂

Yeah I actually bought 2 of them...  A 9* head and a 10.5   

 

I tried the 9* and loved it, so I never even unwrapped the 10.5  (that's why i'm selling it currently.)
