I've long loved the font and color of the ProV1 print on the golf ball.  Taylormade, since the TP Black/Red and Penta have also kept up with a similar font/color scheme.  Both of these manufactures, in my opinion make the most visually appealing golf ball on the market.  They look premium.

All other tour level balls i've played cant seem to hit the mark.  I opened a box of Chrome Tour's in store a month ago and was put off by the branding (shelved that day but ultimately ended up buying a box).  The shinny black and bold font... doesn't pass the eye test.  I cant be the only one who feels like this!?

This is my personal preference on looks only.  But like a lot of things in life/golf, LOOKS MATTER!

Balls below: 24 TP5, Srixon Diamond, ProV1 EA, CT

I get this post and I feel similar to some degree.  For me, it's the first reaction "ahh, don't really vibe with that" but let's see how it performs.  If it performs I can get past the looks.  Not a huge fan of the Cally or Srixon script.  One not listed that I love is the Vice script.

to be honest, your extensive reviews on the CT/CTX drove me to grab a box (CT) last month.   basic script/color aside, that ball performed.  melted my opening shot, stiffed a wedge and missed the bird 😉.  same ball the entire round, no issues with the cover.  an absolute pleasure.

little things matter in this game.  thin topline, minimal offset, club head shape, crown graphics... all this stuff matters.  my quirky ball visuals, to me, are in the same ball park.

i played vice pro and tried the pro+ a long while ago.  the white ball is best; pro or pro+.  i absolutely hated the lime and red pro+.  one wedge and they were destroyed.  the scripts is nice.  their marketing/branding is legit.

This is an interesting topic since I just got 100 balls with nothing on them. I have some GolfDots I bought a while back and I have a couple ball stamps, but I may end up leaving them blank. I just found out I can also get them raw, which I would have preferred, but these should work for now.

<edit> I was going to do a custom logo, but the logo I picked was drawn in spray paint. The edges weren't crisp enough, so I just went with blank.

I don't pay much attention to it but I will say that a thinner font looks more premium to me. From your picture above the TM and Titleist look more premium to me than the Srixon or the Callaway.

I totally follow the point but if I were to pay that much attention to it then I'd probably only limit my club selection to just a couple brands. There are so many bad  logos, poorly thought out model names, lazy and derivative campaigns, as someone that went to school for Visual Communications, I'd have to say golf in general doesn't seek out the 'rising stars of advertising. ' Also to your point, why did Callaway feel they should put the number above the logo as opposed to below? Just to be different? It looks off, they could have really used that chevron to their advantage there but possibly didn't so as to not diminish it and simply appear as an arrow. All that being said, I'd play what works, they're all pretty mediocre. Can you imagine the outcry if Titleist switched up the script?

What my golf ball does is the only thing that matters to me. It’s could light up like a Christmas tree and if it gives me what I want from a ball I wouldn’t care.

the amount of advertising and hype behind the CT led me to believe they would have covered all the bases.  again, the over analytical part of me is nitpicking the size and color of the font.  i guess the number above the script didnt bother me much, but i feel like Callaway always does that?

to your point about the clubs, model names and campaigns... i agree.  the big issue there is that crap comes out annually or    bi-annually.   good luck hitting that jackopot on a consistent basis.   but the ball is a constant.  TP5 or the V1 can get tech enhanced every other year and change the arrows but it always looks great.  CT made a big statements and has advertised heavy as the "new gold standard".  imo the gold standard needs  to check all the boxes!

exactly!

now my mind is moving a bit.  think about all the offerings from Titleist... im reaching in my memory bank of old times like the NXT, DT SoLo, or Velocity.  there is a distinct difference in the font color.  on the non tour balls its a more vivid black.  on the V1/tour lineup, the color of the font is more muted and dare i say the font lines are tighter.  i truly havent played or picked up anything other than a V1 from Titleist in ages, but remember that difference from other offerings back in the day.

Callaway Hex Tour at some point i thought had the muted black on the ball many years ago.  i remember them looking great but only have faint memories.  i need to try and dig for a photo.
