Tiger should take a lesson from Brandt, Trevor, Steve Flesch, etc.-just about EVERYONE else, and learn about behaving and keeping his childish tantrums to himself. I'm sure he doesn't need to act like a baby to appear competitive. enough is enough.

I don't think he's talking about not cursing at all. I played a round with an older (in their 60's) couple a few days ago. I will let out a barrage of words that would make a drunken sailor blush when I'm with my buddies, but I managed to go all day without one curse word. I think Tiger, being the most recognized golfer in the world with millions of adoring children watching his every move should watch his mouth when the cameras are on.

I agree with this idea. I personally think there is an innate responsibility when we are in public to consider others of all ages. I do not curse because I intentionally keep certain words from my vocabulary. I DO express displeasure but I simply choose to use words that I do not have to look around and hope no on hears or may embarrass me or others around me.

 

I do not force my views or behavior on others. I hear cursing all around me, but I chose long ago not to have those words in my vocabulary.

You guys are crazy. Tiger temper is one of the best on tour. He's just harder on himself than others. You have one thing backwards. Brandt, Trevor, and Flesch need to take lessons from Tiger on everything.

While I would prefer Tiger not curse out there on National TV, I also recognize that I struggle to not curse in completely irrelevant rounds when I mess up, let alone the Masters. Also, with some of the role models that I have to put up with in other sports, I'm going to have to go with Tiger every time.

I can swear to Olympic standards when the situation demands it and the company is right. People who don't swear on a golf course are like people who don't own televisions to my mind. I don't swear all the time, nor do I swear in public , but on a golf course amongst my peers I can't see a problem at all with a few Anglo Saxon terms being used.

 

I've watched all the Masters coverage we've had in the UK and the worst I heard Woods (or anyone else) come out with was Tiger admonishing himself on the 15th tee - with something that was hardly gratuitously offensive.

 

He's trying to win a golf tournament and, to me, it shows that he's trying and cares about the result. It's not ideal to hear some mild expletives on televised golf, but it's hardly the end of the world or something that's going to turn your kids into criminals overnight...

Nonsense. Everyone lets out a profanity now and then, especially when hitting a wayward golf shot.

"Look up to Tiger as their hero..." Sorry, that doesn't fly. Parenting is up to PARENTS. If Tiger Woods cursing once or twice a round is the worst thing my child would be exposed to, I'd take that day in and day out, 24/7/365. Try turning on MTV during the AFTERNOON when kids are watching, and look at all the crap that goes on there. And during every round of golf on TV we get HAMMERED with Viagra and Cialis commercials. Oh yeah, that's much easier to explain to a child.

 

Another thing- TW is under a microscope because he's the best. Same goes for Phil or any other star that's in contention on Sundays. If cameras and galleries and microphones followed every player around for 4 days, you'd quickly realize that Tiger's not the only one.

 

Enough about the distractions and the Earl Woods coin jingling. The bottom line is, noise and commotion is distracting during a golf swing. For Tiger, for Phil, for Vijay, for you and for me. Who cares about the stories, show the guy some respect and STFU during his backswing. It's bad enough you got these fools yelling "get in the hole" every time a ball is struck.

 

We really need to put things into perspective here.

Went to church on Sunday and people need to remember that no one is perfect. Not even role models. My son doesn't want me throwing F-Bombs in front of him, but on the course, you can get so wrapped up in it, I've thrown a few myself. Did so on Friday. Does this make me a bad person or a parent? I don't think so. Am I less of a Christian? No, but all I can do is try harder next time not do lose my cool. So the next time someone tries to judge someone else by their conduct, don't forget to look at yourself first and make your own life an example before you try to fix anyone else.

The pouting, the sulking, the angry expressions to the heavens like "how dare that ball not to go into the hole for the great Tiger Woods!" When he is winning he is Mr Happy, but when things aren't going his way, what a crybaby. I think he was taught that good sportsmanship is only for when you are winning. He will win more than anybody in the history of the game but he will never be in the class with the true greats until he grows up, and time for growing up is running out........

Atlanta Golfer, obviously you aren't a Tiger fan, but you can't call him a crybaby. He has extremely lofty goals that are attainable only by him, and he gets disappointed when he isn't playing well. If you really think that everyone else is just happy go lucky, you obviously don't watch that much golf. Every golfer gets pissed off, what is your suggestion for expressing displeasure if you cant pout, sulk, or have a facial expression of disgust?

Actually I heard several other players (not to name names) dropping f-bombs so to act like it's just or single out Tiger is ridiculous. I don't have any problem with it personally but if you do you don't have to watch because I don't think it's going to change anytime soon.

I'm sorry, but there's more profane remarks made by grade schoolers on a daily basis, and I'm pretty sure they didn't learn to talk like that from watching Tiger on TV.
