OK, it's over...what did we all think of the first episode? Did anyone watch?

Liked it! Some of the talent might be questionable, but the drama will definitely be there. Plus some of the ladies are pretty good looking. The prices are not too shabby either.....The LPGA it definitely it is not but some of those girls ARE talented.

Horrible. Don't like the cast at all and I thought their golf games are VERY WEAK!

 

I don't remember the girls names, but one tried hitting a 5 wood from 250. I don't care how hard the wind is blowing, and of course she came up about 35 yards short.

 

Other girl bladed two shots inside 50 yards, and hit a 3 foot put 2 feet offline. same girl hit 3 shots in a row from 140 yards short and didn't change clubs after any of the shots. She was trying to hit a 6 irons and WASN'T EVEN CLOSE to getting the 6 iron onto the green.

 

But it is what it is I guess. I wasn't expecting it to be all that exciting in the first place.

After Big Break Mesquite, I figured TGC would continue the trend of casting really talented golfers for future Big Breaks. Not so much I guess. Granted, the wind was really howling, but it was brutal watching some of those gals.

I wasn't thrilled with the opening compeition which had nothing to do with golf, but I think things will pick up as the series moves on.

 

I also thought some of the golf was weak.

Watched the second half of it. The one thing that I got from watching that is Lori (I think), the bigger woman, had a really bad attitude. It was off putting to say the least. There were some girls there that looked like they might be decent players, but there were others that were just not good.

 

I would love to see someone mouth off to the blackbelt (Cirbie) and have her put them in some sort of joint lock or something. Would be funny. Not saying I condone violence on the golf course, I just don't like people that pick/poke fun at the expense of other people because they might not be as good. She appears to be lacking game, but there are always those people on the big break.

 

I also loved some of the comments. Cat fights a brewing.

 

The lady from England, Samantha (I think) seems quite nice and has a good disposition.

 

Going to be an interesting season!!!

Have always like the "big break" series and think this one will be okay but last night really sucked! some of those shots were ... worse than mine! I'm waiting to get invited to big break 50 something where I can take my pot belly and pot luck game on TV!

I think it will get better as the weaker players get weeded out.

 

If you're a good player (worthy of playing on the LPGA), you should be expecting to get up and down from 50 yards, or at least scoring a 3. A 5 or 6 is unacceptable, nerves, wind or otherwise.

 

I would also think that at this level, you should be proficient with EVERY club in your bag. If you don't hit your 5 iron well and you ignore advice to club-up, then the 5 iron shouldn't be in your bag. It's a wasted slot. Why would you carry a club that you cannot use? Playing barefoot? Let's get real guys.

 

They've certainly got some eye-candy, which is nice, but as a fanatical and obsessed golfer, it will be tough to watch unless the golf gets MUCH better. If the talent is awesome, I could care less what the ladies look like. Hopefully the beauty and the skills coincide, but if I can't have both, I want to watch talent.

I'm a little dissapointed to hear these comments about the talent. I recorded the show and will watch it tonight. I had been led to believe by the commercials that these girls were supposed to be better golfers than the last group of females they had on the show.

 

I guess I'll have to watch and see.

i also can't remember the girl who hit that shot...but I know for a FACT that Kim Welch (which will be the girl who always wears a a scarf) can definitely hit her 3 wood that far, no wind needed.

It's obviously a little premature, but I really think this year they will be featuring the personal relationships to compensate for the golf being played out there.

I loved the comment by one girl who was really spacey. She hit her 6-iron and came up at least 1 club short, and said that she knew it wasn't enough club , but she and her 5-iron were not getting along. So, she hit her 6-iron two more times and came up short. She seemed really spacey.

Personally, I'm all about the self-described Cougar Momma. Great sense of style, even though the animal print clothes and accessories are a cliche.

i think kim (the one who the british girl said "hits it as far as a man") will make it all the way to the end, if not win. besides hitting it as far as she does, she has a good short game, at least from what i got on the first show. she stuck it to about a foot from the bunker, and would've made the green had she not pushed it. other than that, the redhead with the southern drawl seemed pretty good, but talks a bit too much for my liking. and the big woman, i hope she gets a foot in her mouth after talking down everyone else's game and gets eliminated in the first show. it's just karma, its bound to happen to her.

Otherwise, these girls are Futures tour players who rarely break par on that tour. If you can't get it done there, it ain't gonna happen on the LPGA. It is a feature that most of them are easy on the eyes. I'm sure the producers bring in the Lori and Cirbie types to get the others going.

 

I'm rooting for Liz! That's all I'll say on that

I thought it was pretty interesting except for the race. There is enough personality among the cast to make it worth watching if the golf improves.

I agree that Kim is the best player in the group. Tee to green these girls can't touch her, she has had problems in the past with putting. I was surprised to see that she had dumped her YES putter in favor of a Two-Ball. She has told me before that on the Duramed Tour all of the girls get Pay for Play from YES. I believe it is performance based...X amount for a birdie and so on. I don't know if Kim has been gaming the 2 ball so far this year, but in the first tournament in florida she finished 2nd, losing in a playoff.
