Craziest score in a 4-man non-flighted scramble...

Played in a 4-man non-flighted scramble yesterday here in Austin. Winning score was.....21 UNDER par - 51! 15 birdies and 3 eagles! Anyone see better than that? My team played well and we only shot 10 under :clapping:

yes, that's ridiculous...but it doesn't surprise me.

 

i played in one before and we shot -19 and finished 3rd place. $#!T happens

No but close. Just Sunday, the winning score was 20 Under...With strokes though. 2 Kids were playing, they were a 3 HC, and a 5

The winning score in 99% of scrambles is the result of more cheating than I care to discuss.

"Handicap" my Word not allowed scramble...... Team with overall handicap of 18 shot -18..... We don't play in that tourney anymore either... We shot -14 with handicap of 7.... Lots of pencil erasing and cheating going on there...

I've played in Metter a few times. Do they still have "Everything is Better in Metter" on the water tower?

Played on a team that didn't have a handicap limit and we had a total handicap of 10. We shot -20 and lost by 1. It is a short course of 6,000 yards, but still, -21 is bringing it!

I play in a weekly flighted 9 hole scramble and 9 under is the usual winning score. There have been plenty of 10-11 overs and teams getting 2 eagles in 9 holes. The A is paired with the worse D, so that could be a +2 with a 34. If it was not flighted we'd have a few teams of all +, 21 is not that unreal if two people are driving/hitting approaches nice, and two are good putters.

I like the "shamble" format, where everyone uses the best tee shot, and then plays their own ball from there (capped at 2 over).

 

Of course, I think the winners of the last shamble I was in played it like a true scramble and didn't tell anyone.

 

This year, the shamble I am playing in gives out free Foot Joys. That is pretty cool.

Wonder what the top 4 in the world would shoot in a scramble on a normal golf course, Ex: 6600yds, rating :70.

My team was -21 in a 3-man once although it was an 8 inch cup tourney. Real cup, I think -17 is the best I have seen.

We shot -21 in a church tournament one year, next best score was -6, kind of embarrassing.... Glad it wasn't my church.

Saw a 53 posted in a non-handicap scramble on a 140 slope course by a group who's best player was an 18 handicap. They donated their $400 prize (entry fee refunded) back to the program the event was benefitting (their kids' team).

It was a worthy cause, but a bit obvious.

We played a scramble at just over 6000 yards, earlier this year. I was the highest index at the time, a 10 or so. The others were about 9, 7 and 7.It is a fun tournament and the prizes are next to nothing. We shot -13 and I believe we could have done a shot or more better.

No mulligans or cheating of any kind. Iron play and short game was the key for us.

Have been 20-under twice and 21-under once. Get four scratch or below golfers together on good greens and birdieing every hole is not that hard. Throw in a few eagles and there you go.

Been on a team that shot 52, 20 under par. Each member took home a 50" flat screen LED TV for first place.

I had a team that once shot 50 (-22) in a scramble. We had a 0, 3, and two 8s as our handicaps. Course was short, 6100ish. Each one of us had a red tee and two mulligans. Used the red tees on par 5s and had wedges into all them and eagled all of them. One guy holed out from 50 yards on our first hole and we parred one par 3.

This past weekend we played in one and they had no mulligans and no red tees, string, or any of the other stuff some scrambles have and we shot -14. There was a -19 that won. A couple -18s and -16s.

At this point, I am not surprised by really low scores.

Now the scramble I played in this summer where 15 of the 22 teams were all at least 10 over par was interesting.

1st to 5th - 61 to 68
6th to 22nd - 82 to 95

I played a 2-person-team scramble a few weeks ago. Flighted: I'm ±11 handicap and had to play with a 46 handicap, we had loads of fun and played a round of 32, or -3.
The winning team was a duo with 22 handicap, who played 27, or -8. I called BS, but got booed off the terras.

The lowest score I've been apart of in a 4 man scramble is 18. Not 18 under, just 18, like 54 under. We figured that if everyone is going to cheat, might as well go all the way.

I've been on two teams that shot -21 with no handicaps. Reachable par 5's with 3 scratch golfers and another guy who putts great. It still takes alot and a fairly easy coarse.

You play in 8 somes

I have seen -24 on a short course. They had six eagles. One was a holed wedge and eagles on all 5 of the par 5's. Most competitive teams have a LD guy in their group

The best I have done is -18. This is in 32* weather on a 6700 yard course every October. And by the way, my three teammates are all solid tourney +'s (+3, +3, +5)

The scrambles on your own are a sad joke. Two twenty cappers and two tens and a -17? GTFOH

They should outlaw all mulligans in 4 man scrambles. 20 or so under is crazy.
