Personally, I just lost alot of respct for callaway. Thier clubs resemble cheap box set trying to appeal to unknowing beginers. All the carbon composite on the driver look L4V like. The irons look horrible! The Taylor made esque iron patches really cheapened the look, especially on the potencially cool looking x-forged. The ft-iq looks like something Hippo would put out. All in all I'm anxious to try the new line of balls and maybe the wedges but the rest of the line, from an athetics stand point, is horrible. JMHO

The bottom of the ft-9 reminds me of the new offerings from Titleist. I think Callaway relly missed the mark with the X forged. In my opinion the players clubs should be more traditional in appearance. Leave the gimmicy look to the GI market. All in all, Im not impressed with the looks. Of course, If the drivers perform, then I may be able to get over it.

It's interesting that all the golf forums that are showing the pre-lease pics, have omitted the "at address" pic, i.e. top view of the IQ driver. Not sure why that is, since Golf Magazine has a pic of it. Just curious as to why the forums have omitted it. Another forum had it, but removed it rather fast.

Here ya go, hopefully I don't get hit with the b& hammer http://www.golfrewind.com/golf-equipment/4...river-pics.html

Both FT drivers look great but the rest do not. Def a step back in the looks dept. on all the irons.

FT-iQ is at the top of my must try list.

like the FT-9 and the FT-IQ but do not like the irons at all. Diablo looks interesting, but just not my cup of tea, but hey whatever works. The FT-9 bottom composite weave kind of reminds me of the C4... any1 else see what i see?

I see a 460cc version of...what was that Wilson driver called??...the Invex, from 15 yrs ago!?

I actually like the driver offerings as the face technology is the real deal.......graphics on bottom look cheap, but who looks at the bottom of their driver.

The X22 and x22 Tour's look horrible. Way too much offset and an extremely thick topline. The X-forged look pretty good but appear to have a decent amount of offset.

I'm really shocked at how bad the irons look.....you would expect more out of Callaway.

Wow, really disappointed.... went away from Cally drivers this year after bagging the FT-3/5/i and x460 for years. The '09 release doesn't look promising, at least cosmetically.

My early guess would be that Titleist wins the '09 driver wars, at least in terms of gaining the most market share relative to where they are today.

Titleist TSI3 8 degree w/Ventus Black 7x
Callaway X Hot Pro 3W 15 degrees
Mizuno CLK Hybrid 16 degrees
Titleist 712U 3 iron w/C-Taper X
Mizuno JPX 921 Tour 4-W w/Project X 6.0
Titleist Vokey Blue Slate SM7 52, 58, 60 w/ DG S400
Odyssey ProType Black #9

Here are my comments:

Interesting choice of graphics for the woods. Definitely louder and more edgy here.

The Big Bertha Diablo is not the replacement of the Hyper X as many people have touted. The Hyper X will be for the player seeking a deeper face, while the Diablo for those seeking a shallower face. So they serve their own different markets.

The FT-IQ is definitely an improvement over the FT-I as the weighing is now outside, or external. And to think that the FT-I already had better weight distribution over their rival's MWT, this one will blow it out of the water.

The FT-9 has a rounder face area, similar to a Ping. I am not quite sure how this will work out. But cup face and hyperbolic face sure make for an interesting combination of forgiveness. I have a feeling that when they say "more forgiving than the FT-i" they really mean less distance loss due to the face technology but I would guess the FT-i should still beat this in terms of directional loss.

The X-22 and X-22 Tour seem to incorporate notch-weighing that has already been featured in the Epon-701 and will be featured in the Taylormade Tour Burner TP irons. So I guess there indeed is technology to this design. But if you are a forged purist, then the Epon 701 would be the way to go if you are after this design. Otherwise, these clubs seem to suit the bill fine. It is hard to imagine improving on the MOI of the X-20's but the 10% claim makes this a very exciting product for the golfer seeking a little extra forgiveness.

The X-Forged 2009 progressive dual-notch weighing is a very similar principle to the X-Prototype blades that came out in limited numbers. This one is just a cavity back that will appeal to a broader range of serious golfers. It sure is a very sound concept that will move the center of gravity of each club thanks to the second notch making it essentially a flighted head design, just like the X-Prototype. It's nice to see them use 1020 steel also, instead of 1045, 1030, or 1025 which should make this a very soft feeling club. Graphics-wise, the satin finish is very nice, but I am not too sure about the graphics in the cavity. Seems like a Taylormade RAC to me.

All in all, it is a solid product offering for Callaway Golf. There are no surprises and curveballs here. Just the standard-fare replacement and improving of the products that were due for it. The good thing is that these really make claims to be better and they tell you what area they improved upon, unlike other brands who release just for the sake of it without claiming any improvements over their predecessors.

My observations:

The X-22 irons (both models) looks dorky and really ugly in my view :drinks:

The new X-Forged irons looks kind of tempting to me :)

The FT9 driver looks interesting, but the graphics reminds me a bit too much of the Ping Rapture graphics - but what the heck, it's only graphics

I actually think the old FT-5 and FT-i graphics looked much better.......

Taylor Made Tour Burner Tp looks better than the FT-9 in my view - but I will have to try these new offerings from Cally out for sure.

As always, I would like to thank GolfWRX for putting these pics out for us members to evaluate and start dreaming about what our next golf purchase will be :man_in_love:

Wow.

I am honestly shocked by how ugly the irons are, when compared to the current generation Callaways. I love the look of the current X-Forged irons. I can also see the appeal of the X-20 irons. The new generation irons are HORRIBLE. The X-Forged went from one of the prettiest forged irons out there to the ugliest forged irons. What is Callaway thinking?!

That being said, I am sure the sales and marketing guys are no dummies and they will probably sell a ton of these clubs.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
