glove off for putting as well as other short "feel" shots. probably really doesn't make a difference, but its that mental aspect that i'll have more "feel" for the touchy shots without the glove

I just started taking my glove off to putt because I never have it when I practice in the office or at home so it feels normal to have it off. Felt like I didn't have as much control with it off at first but I realized I just needed to tighten my grip lol

I will even wear my glove if im 5 yards of the green i just have to do it that way im to acustom to it and cant do otherwise, i think in the older year of golf like jack and arnie all wore gloves when they putted also most tour players dont chip with a glove on.

Anyway most times my cohorts and I take off our gloves between shots and when we putt to help keep the gloves dry. However when I start getting "handsy" with my putts, I recently have begun to leave my glove on. It tends to help straighten things out. [/size]

I haven't played with a glove for 15 years and find that each shot produces more feel that way.

Just curious, why do so many use a glove for the full shots and take it off for the feel shots? Is it because of blisters or sweat?

Wouldn't a proper grip be an alternative to a glove?

My glove for me is a massive part of my game. It starts and finishes my shot routine as I put it on and take it off, taking my in and out of the moment. When I putt I don't wear a glove mainly for a feel thing but it also focusses me as I am concentrating on my putt(s) from the moment it goes in my back pocket.

The only reason I wear a glove is due to sweat (I sweat like a pig). Soo most of the time I putt with the glove on depending on the heat. I also switch gloves multiple times per round due to the gloves being saturated with sweat.

I dont mind the hideous golf tan either / I can deal with one hand being whiter than the other lol

Glove on. When I started playing I would get so focused on the putt that I would forget to take the glove off. Now I have now gotten used to not having it on. So it just stays on.

If I keep the glove on all the time, it tends to get wet from sweat.
Makes big difference for me.

same here i used it when hitting and its off after hitting, on the tee and approach after that i removed it and dont wear it on short game pitches, chips, or putts to get more feel.

I always make sure to take it off while chipping and for approach shots as well.
Can't really get proper feel with a glove on most of the time.

I second this. I take my glove between every shot and leave it off for anything inside 50 yards and putts.

I take it off to putt. I use to take it off chipping too, but somehow that has changed over the years. As for putting it is definitely a feel thing, but the bottom lines is what matters to the 6" between your ears.

Gets really hot here, so I take my glove off for putting and pitch/ chip shots. I like to let my hand breathe. I also like to feel the club for the delicate shots that mean so much.

I take my glove off to ensure that I dont have a "glove tan". But I take it off for anything that isnt a full swing. Whether I'm punching a 4 iron under a tree or hitting a 3 quarter sand wedge, and putting too.

Its more of a feel thing. I like to feel myself controlling the club in my hand and I just get a better feeling with that. I dont think its actually better or worse.

I think it's completely mental, but the glove comes off on anything less than a full pw. It's always been like that for me. I don't think that it makes me play any better though.
