That is a good looking setup.  I got into golf around the late 90's when I was a kid but I didn't become a gear junkie until a few years ago.  So far i've been a new equipment gear junkie, but honestly I'm finding myself being drawn to some of these old PING irons.  Maybe someday soon!

Thank you...they get a lot of looks at the golf course and I cannot tell you how good the BeCu feels through the ball.  I have played many irons from Titleist Blades to G15 irons and these are just as good but classic at the same time.

One thing about playing older irons is the loft...for instance my last modern set was Cobra Forged TEC irons and the specs on the 7 iron was 30 loft and 37.75in long.  My BeCu 7 iron is 34.5 loft and 37.25 (+1/2) so needless to say these play a club or half a club shorter.

But I always said it does not matter how far you hit your irons...what matters is that you know how far they go.

So now I may need to pull my 6 iron for what used to be a 7 iron shot so that is taking some getting used to but I will have it figured out before long.

Warning small brag will appear briefly

I also went back in time.  found a set of legal eye2 regriped them yesterday (Played them for two weeks before finally admitting I need to regrip them, no amount of cleaning was going to make those old grips work) and went out today and beat my age by one for the first time ever,

As guy says above its not how far you hit it but knowing how far it will go.

Pw is 50º

seven is 36º and plays at 36.75".

Simply put, yes.

Please send all vintage & classic, but otherwise completely worthless clubs (especially PING Eye 2 BeCu wedges and 1 irons(righty or lefty, both will be disposed of properly) to:

Sorry to bring back such an old thread but interesting one for sure.

So I used to be a 6 handicap and played all the newest irons from Blades to SGI irons.  I enjoyed the equipment part of the game.

After a quite a few year hiatus from the game I have decided to come back and play for fun (not chasing a HC) and have decided to go back to an iron I had always thought about playing but was caught up in the fads of the newer irons.  I do have a love for Ping irons and have played many models of Pings probably starting back with i10's and then forward.

So I found a set of Ping ISI BeCu 2-SW2 in really good shape with ZZ65 shafts (which I always thought was a very good shaft) and I have had a few range sessions with them and they are amazing.  I do not think the modern irons have anything on them in reference to feel or forgiveness.  I think if you matched lofts and shaft length these are as long as a modern day iron too.  I also love the nostalgia of playing such an iconic iron...plus they look amazing in the bag.  Just my 2 cents!

Holy Karsten, that’s sexy.  I so love the mature curvy ones with class and dignity.

As a follow up to my previous post...the only club in my bag that is somewhat current is my 2021 Ping Anser 2 which is awesome!

The Ping Eye 2 One iron is the only club that survived my hiatus.  I always loved hitting long irons and I found this Eye2 years ago and sent it to PING to be refurbished and a CFS shaft installed because the original shaft was in poor shape.  I LOVE hitting this one iron off the tee.

I skipped this reply in February, but now feeling obliged to respond here in April.  Go figure.

If you're in the USA, all Eye2 irons are conforming, forever.  You can even use them in USGA amateur competitions.  It's only professional events, including the US Open, where the square groove Eye2's are not allowed.

Eye2+ are right out (Python moment!).

I may have posted this to you in another thread, apologies if a repeat.  I've mentioned this a few times in different threads on WRX...
