Not the best picture, but relative size of the 6-irons.

first thing i notice there is that the DPC has a significantly taller face and a significantly longer ferrule. it looks like less offset than the xforged but more than the xproto, but that might be the camera angle.

second thing i notice is that you are an impressive club ho.

third thing: do i even need to say it? that carpet looks PLUSH. you had to know that was coming. :D

Haha, I know you can't resist that carpet.

It's the picture angle, the J40 DPC definitely is a bigger head, but offset specs of the X-Forged and Protos are essentially the same. DPC offsets below for comparison. And yeah the ferrules on the J40s are too large.

So, Puppet.....I been wanting to try out a Scotty....you have any spares? :pimp: I agree the J40 are taller, but will help if you hit the ball high on the face sometimes. Let us know how these babies are...i know you are giddy.

 • 1 month later...

Giving up on the G25, and the RHT is starting to creak around the hosel/heel area so I think its lifespan is coming to an end, as a result I picked up a "new" driver this week.
Been too sore from the gym to go to the range, but I'll find out tonight. :)

I've actually owned a few 9015Ds before, so this isn't my first time with it.

9.5* with stock Matrix 60 - Not bad honestly for a stock shaft
9.5* with Matrix Radix 7321 Proto - Pretty awesome set up, foolishly sold it (we've all heard that one before)
10.5 with Speeder 757 - Got it used and I think the shaft was tipped extra, because I could barely hit this 10 feet off the ground. Hopefully this Rombax isn't as stout - Fujikura told me that the 80B plays more like the Motore Speeder 8.1.

I think there was one more but I can't remember what shaft was in it. I also have another 10.5* head on the way.

Haha. Funny you ask, I have hit a 8.5* 913 D3 with DI-6 and it was decent but not outstanding, then was just thinking this week (while browsing the BST) that I have never hit a 913 D2. Hmmm...

How are you hitting the 9015?
Well, got out last night to the range and I'm very impressed with it. Quick summary:

The shaft is what stood out - it doesn't feel or play like an 80 gram shaft even at 45", so smooth, easy to load, and most importantly for me, straight. Out of about 20+ balls, I hit 3 big blocks and 1 pull hook, most others were either straight (from what I could tell under the lights) or slight cuts. I hit a few of the heel and most started a little left and were pretty straight or fought to cut back a little.

The 9015D head is as good as I remembered. Love the muted crack with the solid feel. Not obnoxious at all.

This setup launched higher than I thought, but I shouldn't be surprised I guess since a Fuji rep told me that the 80B is most like the Motore Speeder 8.1, which is more of a mid launch shaft with less stiff of a tip. I did have a slight concern about pairing a 9.5* head and an 80 gram shaft.

No feel for distance since it was on the range and at night, but it looks really promising.
I honestly thought this would be too much club, but it seems to fit me well, and this was probably the first time since the SuperDeep with F7M2 that I've smiled to myself hitting a club for the first time. With the G25, I never felt like I had this much control and confidence that I could put a good swing on it and let it rip. This is definitely the best set up I've had since the RHT with Ahina. Based on one range session, haha.

I prefer the D2 to the D3. I get very similar numbers with both, D3 is a little lower launch/spin. I just hit the D2 better and it's more forgiving.

My go to shot with that driver was about a 10 yard cut. With the open face and low spin it was just begging for that shot. Will be interesting to see where it ends up when you get it on the course.

On a side note, I think the majority of high end shafts are becoming stiffer to flex, especially in the tip section. Just kind of the whole low-spin movement along with the driver heads. When the 9015 came out it was considered one of the lowest spinning heads available and a lot of people were going up in loft to play it. When I was hitting the 8.5* with WB73 I was talking about I was surprised at how nice the flight was, not low at all. My R1 set to 8.5* launches lower if anything and definitely spins less than the 9015/WB. Just an interesting shift to see 4.5 years later. You have high launch/spin guys playing Ping G series drivers now, that certainly wasn't the case when the 9015 came out.

I think I hit like one draw with the 9015, and it wasn't on purpose. My driving has been so bad I'd be happy if they are in the fairway maybe 15 yards or so past my 3W, but either way, I'm looking forward to taking this driver onto the course. Interesting note on the shafts and I can definitely see that, given that we seem to be getting a more-tip-stiff version of everything these days.

Thanks guys. Looking at my bag this week I just realized how mixed up it is in terms of brands, even the shafts. Pretty different than when it was essentially all Callaway clubs and all MRC graphite in my woods/hybrids.

Some really sweet kit in here.

It was a sad day when I let my Maxfli Revolutions go. I had the red dot version, but they were so buttery soft I was knocking loft into them. Getting them bent back to stock every 3 months was expensive. Loved the feel though.

Thanks for putting up your bag(s) !

That's why I've always said I'm not selling those Maxflis. I've often contemplated bringing the Maxflis back out to play with. There's no reason not to really, other than them needing new grips. I'm sure I'll have some time to regrip them over the winter though. Also need to shaft up an old Vokey 248.06 head I got recently.

Thanks for all the comments.
