The CB5 is the best looking fairway I've owned, kind of regret selling mine now. I'm messing around with a 13* CB2 right now that I stuck one of those ebay special 8Z08's in. I tipped the 8Z08 1.25" and now the butt feels like a stiff and the tip feels like a solid X, it's an interesting feel to say the least. Like a whiteboard profile exaggerated, feels great just not used to that profile. If I did it again I would probably tip .75" for a 3 wood, just to keep the profile more even. Just a heads up.

I picked up a brand new Fubuki AX f85 for my i25 fairway....it's been years since I gamed one....In your opinion, still a great fairway shaft?

IMO, still one of the best, if the general Fubuki profile agrees with your swing. The dispersion might not be as tight as the Rombax or Accra, but it has that great Fubuki feel, good blend of launch and (lower) spin for a FW shaft, and has some serious distance potential. One thing I'd suggest is installing it long first, and then figure out if you need to tip it to tighten things up. Mine is tipped 0.5" and while that works, I think I could have taken another 0.5" off.

I've hit some really long tee shots with it, and it launches nicely off the deck, I just wish I could hit it as straight as I do the TEE pair. Might be a function of the DET head too, because between the three 3Ws, the DET + AX probably has the lowest, flattest flight.

This set up might change depending on what I do with the hybrids. Still testing the Adams Super LSP and Super 9031, but I really like this Fli-Hi 3-iron with RIP Tour.

i must say, it's a classic looking bag. interesting that you went with a 48° vokey vs the j40 dpc pw. was it size/shape or grind that dictated the choice? or just personal preference?

pay it sideways alert: i still have a 9015D with a bimatrix that i can sell (give) you as a backup, if you are interested. will bring it to forest greens if you make it out to that tourney.


p.s. i wouldn't be me if i didn't mention the sweet sweet plastic on that corner of the carpet. had to be said. sorry.

Haha, it's just in that corner because of the three golf bags that are there.

I thought 46* PW, 50, 54, and 60 was slightly excessive, so I'm trying the 48* to streamline things a little. That being said, I also like a 52, 56, 60 set up, so I can still do that with the 48* in the bag. And sadly, I do have all those lofts.

I had an indoor range session today due to the downpours. The CB5 feels great, insanely hot. This is my first experiment with a 4 wood - I found it a good bit easier to launch than a 3 wood which is good (though I never struggled with that before). However I did hit a few higher than desired. Really love the feel though and it just rips off the face.

I would give it a chance outdoors or on the course. I think the high launch can be fine tuned, to an extent, with a shaft change. The 15* launches higher than I expected with the Rombax, but I didn't want something that hit worm burners all day either.

The feel of this is great though, not your typical harsh Ti face.

Full disclosure. I bought another 3 wood to contend for the spot in my bag the day after giving you a hard time. I'd been keeping an eye out for a good deal on a g25, and it had a Fubutta in it to boot! Hopefully it shows up tomorrow so I can take it out for a spin on the course this Sunday.

Well, I'm revisiting the Razr Fit but in 10.5 degs cranked all the way open (2 degs, IIRC) with a GD DI-7X. I've been fit into this shaft twice by two different capable fitters, but never really saw the on-course results. Giving it another shot for kicks.

 

I know, this is soooo 2010. What can I say? I like the old stuff better still.

 

 

Reshafted the Adams Super 9031 with the Rombax 8D07 from the LSP and am really liking that combo, along with the Fli-Hi with RIP Tour 115. Also went back to the Protype #7 after a failed experiment with the Laguna. I know that didn't last long at all. Will get some pictures the next time I'm outside, but none of my stuff is a current offering, so it's hardly exciting. The only 2014 club I'm interested in so far is the Cobra Bio Cell + driver or maybe even the Bio Cell Pro. What I really need to do is get some swing videos to monitor any improvements after my lesson with Dan C./iteachgolf.

Is the Razr Fit a composite head like the old Razr Hawk Tour? I loved the RHT but it is so fragile. I cracked three heads and they are very delicate to reshaft. I would have stayed with that head, but it was too much work.

Haha, I'll get them soon. It is soccer season for both my kids right now, so while everyone has been ramping up their golf season, I'm still stuck in range mode until June.

The Razr Fit is composite too, I can't remember the exact tech, but it feels a little crisper and has more of a crack (no pun intended) at impact than the RHT. If you saw my FO vids I'm hitting a Razr Fit and you can hear it pretty clearly. I still have a RHT around and it is my favorite head for years, but mine is starting to creak at the hosel on the downswing and I think one of these days I'm going to end up looking for it down the fairway or range.

I'd also add that the Razr Fit has very similar shape to the RHT, but without the seam that so many people hated, and with the sleeves selling for cheap now (and shafts on Callaway Preowned), it's real easy to swap shafts.

I think it was more shaft related than anything tho the DI is a good fit I think
