Have you got an entire set of "backup" clubs?

I have a full backup set with the exception of a driver. Not necessarily a backup set however, more of just "additional options" to my regular bag. Extra set of irons, fairways, putters and a lot of wedge options.

If I wasn't lucky enough to be in the golf industry, I wouldn't have them, but I am so I do. And I haven't paid for everything I have - some were given to me from friends, customers, reps, etc. Some I've traded for with cameras, hockey gear, club repairs, etc. and I keep it all, rarely selling any of it off.

I look at it like collecting something - some people collect stamps, model trains, etc. - this is just my hobby!

I have 2 sets besides the gamers. One is my last set, nice to have if my son is back from college or I need them for a guest. The other is a Sunday bag, with six clubs (D, 4H, 7i, PW, SW, putter) for walking a quick 9; these often live in the trunk just in case.

I have several extra sets, but I really don't consider them backups. Mostly they are older sets (07 x forged, TM300, TM Rac, 905R, 983K, R11, etc) that really aren't worth a whole lot. Once in a whole I'll put a set on ebay or the BST but they just don't bring much. So they just hang around. Two or three sets are in the corner of my man cave and a couple are in the shop at work. Having some extras really doesn't take up all that much space.

Next time I'm in Denver, I may take some stuff to PGA SS and see if I can get anything for them on trade. Does anyone know, on stuff that's not on the value guide, will they take them?

I used to call it a back up set but now it is a second set which I leave at a second house in sunny St George (sometimes I don't want to take the primary set down and so now I don't have to.
Basically built the same set of mizuno MP64/Mp69 combo and put in a previous Callaway driver and Taylormade 3 wood and hybrid which had gotten kicked out of the bag last year for Titleist driver and 712u---
Obviously I am not in the same league with some of you other ho's but it works for me and I can rotate things in and out of both bags. Usually I like some stuff and I just like other stuff a little better.

good grief....backup set... I guess... I have 5 full sets of irons right now..94 titlest tour model , 86 bullet back tour model,titleist 695cb, 2007callaway x forged and 83 titleist tour model. .2 sets are in the back seat of my truck ( range time don't ask) a whole bag of Cleveland wedges.... wayyy too many to type here.... at least 4 975d drivers...all different lengths....a bag full of fairway wood shaft pulls ( graffoly blues all different weights)....910 d3 driver with ahina shaft, Ping G5 3 wood 5 wood, ping rapture 17 hybrid,

oh wait I forgot an iron set ..ha....Cleveland t stamp CG2 with px 95g 5.5 and pure grips...so 6 iron sets...its a sickness..no cure and no I don't let friends borrow them... kind of like borrowing your toothbrush...its just too personal to me...

out of all that I only own one putter.... I bet you didn't see that coming!!!!

At this time - the only clubs I don't have backups for are my fairway woods. Otherwise, I carry a backup Driver, Irons, Wedges, and Putters. My intention is to also pickup a 4Wood as another backup/alternate club.

I had a Tourstage Z101 -5 and -8 iron lying around, and found a J33 Combo -4, -5, -6, -7, -9, and PW from clubfinders.com here in Plano TX. I couldn't resist buying them, so now I've got.....

* Backup set (Bridgestone J33 Combos 3-PW, I couldn't resist a great deal on a NEW set for $299)
