Scotty still on top?

Been trying out other putters like the tp by kiama and like the feel have been using scotty camerons for years and just wondering if you guys think they are still the best around and what is your fave scotty model?

scotty are great putters but there are more players in the putter market now. Bettinardi IMHO makes the best putters on the market, but there's plenty of people that will argue that scotty is. To each his own. Taylormade Kia Ma's are money as well, i wouldn't hesitate to game one.

I have a pretty decent putter collection but have been using Cameron's for the last 10 years at least somewhere in the rotation. Also have always had a Bettinardi and a Mills on hand as well, currently only one of each and that's how it will probably stay. Use what works, there is no best, simply what gets the ball in the hole the fastest. Find what is best for you.

If you're talking exclusively OTR, then I believe there are so many better choices now with more custom options to find what works for them.

In my opinion, Circle T's, hundreds of designs and Scotty's Custom Shop will seperate Scotty Cameron putters from the rest of the pack for a long time to come. Bettinardi is close second and will probably make a big move in the putter world with his newly acquired status without the Mizuno label. Also, you just can't beat a putter, "made in the USA". Specutalive of course, and my opinion solely.

I prefer my TM Daytona with it's AGSI+ insert... Rolls the ball like none other and feels great!

scotty is still the standard. but there are many out there. All these guys claiming there putter is "the best". why don't the best in the world play them without being payed to? how many non- Nike guys use method's? Can't think of one? what do all the srixon guys use? Callaway and titleist are still leading the way. Taylormade, nike are making better putters than ever and very good.

I still like my old Squareback No. 1 - but will probably get a Californication Del Mar soon

Must say the new Corza Ghost also looks interesting.....but Cameron is a classic.

Bettinardi and Tp Mills, Ping and Odyssey are also among my personal favorite putter brands though.

I definitely agree with the underlined part. Yes, use what is best for you. The best putter is what performs the best for your game. Whether Cameron putters are the best is really not the question here.

My personal opinion is that Cameron putters are not the best. They are on par with a lot of companies today. I feel that a Byron Morgan or TP Mills are better putters because of the balance and true location of the sweet spot on the face. Of the 14 Cameron putters I owned, most had sweet spots about 1/8" to 1/4" towards the heel of the face from center (this was referenced from the site dot or site line if the putters had that). The Byron Morgan and TP Mills putters I have owned had sweet spots dead center of the face. A TP Mills Heritage is currently in my bag but I am considering a Byron Morgan DH89 w/Rincon neck (Santa Fe styled) for my next putter. I might even consider a German Stainless Steel model (which is about 1/5 of the cost of a Cameron GSS version). IMO, the Byron Morgan DH89 putter is every bit as good as a Cameron 009 putter for 1/4 of the price (retail).

For me, the best putter is my SNAKE EYES TOUR PLATINUM 7803. I own nine putters, including a mint TM KIA MIA IMOLA that I love but it is going to be a closet queen. There is NO best, just hype and what works BEST for the individual. Honestly, I've tried SCOTTY's and I don't get it; maybe I don't want to understand the SCOTTY thing due to all of the hype. Interesting post, no wrong answer here.

What is best for you is what is designed for YOU. Try getting the Scotty that you want with YOUR specs. Even Scotty's CT and collectable tour stuff is not made for you. They're made much like retail off the rack stuff that pleases a general idea of what is good, but not exactly what's good for YOU. SO with that Scotty's are far from good- lipstick on a pig.

Depends on who you are I guess. I can tell you my Cameron's were "made for me" just as much as my custom Byron's are. To say they are far from good is quite a leap. I know you are biased but come on. Unless you are getting a handmade all Byron, Cameron or any other putter maker do is let you choose loft, lie, weight, and neck on their standard headshapes. Anyone could bend any retail Cameron or any other putter to their correct specs.

I think that the biggest technology changes going on in putters today is the face design/insert - some treatment that decreases backspin at impact and gets the ball rolling true quickly. Cameron, to date, has had it all - innovative head design, great looks, great feel, customization (at least if you are on tour) - but I fear they are losing ground on face design. I am moving to Taylormade with the agsi inserts to see if it really makes a difference.

after the first foot of a putt none of the matters. It has never been proven that getting the ball rolling sooner actually leads to more made putts.

Lie can be bent for any putter, but I want loft milled into the head, not bent. How do you get a Cameron with a custom milled loft if you are an average Joe (not a pro or works in the golf industry or top Am) How do you order a custom weight through Cameron?You don't have to get a handmade for custom specs. Sure milling a custom loft would add some charge to a production model Byron but it's still way under the generalized speced CT Cameron putter cost. This goes for a number of putter craftmen who provide custom performance options. At this point Cameron is not too much of a custom putter designer as it pertains to fitting people. He's more of an aesthetic designer of putters (which has always been his thing since his days of fixing dents on VW cars) in a period when many putter craftmen offer form and function to anyone that isn't just a pro, top client spending thousands, or top Am.

You really just need to find what works for you. I've had numerous Camerons (Studio Design #1 felt great, the new laguna felt awful) and AGSI putters (Spider Daytona) and I found the headshape that works the best for me, the Cameron Del Mar. I took the PAT this spring with this putter after only having it in the bag for about a week and putted lights out with it. My buddy who is a PGA pro and caddied for me basically said he never saw me have more confidence over putts than with that putter. For whatever reason, the headshape and feel works for my eyes and my stroke and at the end of the day that is all that matters.

I had a newport, got rid of it and thought Scotty was all hype. Well I just went back to a SC Fastback 1 and am again on the Scotty band wagon. I was gaming a YES! Victoria II which was nice but the feel I get from the fastback is much more true. Would I get the same feel from a Betti? Probably.

Scotty is back on top for me.

Scotty never has been the best seller. Odyssey is always #1 in that dept. Camerons are good if they suit you but lots of great choices.

I use a 33" putter, probably should be a 32", but I just left my Yes! putter to get more swing weight. For what I was looking for, the 361g, D2 of the Newport 2 was the best fit. I tried the Ping IWI series and the Yes Dianna to get a D2 swing weight on a 33" putter but it just didn't match the Scotty for feel, touch, sound. For roll it's hard to beat the Yes! putters when you hit the sweet spot but so far I've really like the confidence I have with the Scotty.
