Whats the best golf course you've played golf on

My favorite is our local muni where my grandfather taught me to play, good ole' Pine Oaks. If you are in the Myrtle Beach area to play I suggest driving about 20 minutes north and checking out Leopard's Chase at the Ocean Ridge Plantation. Worth every penny and make sure you bring your A game.

My top three are in this order:

 

Muirfield (Scotland): Shot 82 -- wonderful sunny day, had to wear a coat and tie, changed back into nice duds for lunch and then went back out for a second round 85.

 

Augusta National: Shot 87, but only three putted the first green, had two putts on the rest except 18, one putt for par. Went around Amen Corner at +1 and birdied #16. Ate lunch under the oak tree and then played the parr-three course. As far as highlights go -- this falls between the birth of my children and getting married.

 

Quail Hollow: Played right after the Wachovia Championship one year and the conditions were near perfect. Shot 81.

Redstone Tournament Course.

Its great even when it isnt to tour specs.

I dont know the length off the top of my head but its over 7000 from tournament tees.

Ive played two golf courses

1. Irish Creek Country Club in Kannapolis, NC. It held an amateur event there.

2. The Cowboys Club in Dallas, Texas. It held a Champions Tour event there in 2004

To the OP, Spirit Hollow. Thats Winegard's course in Burlington, right? I've played there.

 

I now live in the Fort Worth area and have been fortunate enough to get to play Colonial Country Club a couple of times. A true test of golf. I started out birdie, par, birdie, and I'm thinking "I wonder what the course record is here", and then reality set in......

Cape Kidnappers in New Zealand is hands down the best course i have played. Royal Adelaide is a really nice track and so is Kingston Heath in Melbourne. One of my favourite courses is the Links Lady Bay in South Australia. It's really secluded and is one of the most picturesque courses around and I like the fact that it's never crowded.

My high school golf team was granted practice privileges daily on the Primrose (9 hole course with 3 holes that are part of the champ course) and I caddied and worked in the bag room so I got to play the main on Mondays.

 

Was lucky enough to be given free tickets for the Ryder Cup (junior year 1999) and was on 17 green for the Leonard putt, best tourney experience yet so far.

I forgot to add the Champ course at PGA National (when it is in good shape). The bear trap is as tough a stretch of holes that I have ever played, plus throw in some South Florida wind and you have yourself a tough day out there.

Pinehurst 4 and 8.

 

I preferred 8 for its natural beauty.

 

2 was crazy expensive, but I am sure worth it. the entire complex is incredible.

Champ's in good shape right now, but I think they are overseeding next week. I shot 76 on it last week.

Sounds decent, but it was 33-43. I doubled 11, 14 and 15.

Dont know about BEST, but my fav is Bears Best in Vegas.  All Jack Nicklaus holes, perfectly manicured and FAST, baby bottom smooth greens.
