Wolfpack, no problem at all. Go to a hobby shop and buy Tamiya Acrylic X paint. The colors that have "clear" after the color are translucent colors. Apply the paint to the lettering, let it dry for 5 min or so and remove excess with acetone on a paper towel.

Perfect! Thanks for the information. I had trouble locating it, but, I believe it was an anser milled that Stratton had painted the word "anser" in a combination of black and orange where they appeared to fade together. Any tips on how he accomplished that as well? Also, I'm assuming it was using the same paint as above?
On what page can we see the answer with the fade?

Have a buddy playing in the pub links, would be awesome if he and Stratton end up playing each other in match play. Course looks really tough. My buddy is a shorter guy too so it'd be an interesting story line
I also have a buddy of mine playing in the Pub links, would have liked to get out there to watch both he and Stratton battling, but just couldn't work it out.

Not sure where you guys are staying, but if its Wichita, you're in my neck of the woods. Lots of great places to eat for lunch or dinner in the area. If you need any recommendations, let me know. If you're in Newton, Reba's is the only restaurant I can think of and it's very good.

I'll be up there sometime this week. Excited to see Strat and the rest of the guys get after it. Sand Creek isn't extremely challenging, but it will be a good test. I know the course was in bad shape early this year, so hopefully it's a little better now.

Good Luck

Looks like Stratton tees off tomorrow at 2:20 pm on hole 10 and 8:50 am on Tuesday on hole 1. Hoping to make it out to see him play.

Spent the last two days following Stratton at the Public Links and he is an impressive young man not only with the clubs, but in character. Breck it was a pleasure meeting you and thanks for taking some time and chatting.

He unfortunately did not make it to the match play portion. First day, all of the afternoon guys had bad luck as the wind really picked up for their rounds. I believe I over heard that the scoring average was 3 strokes higher for the afternoon groups. Stratton shot +5 on the first day. The second day was beautiful weather with the wind picking up as the round went on, but nothing like the first round. He looked better with his iron play, but as Breck told me he was just not as sharp as he had been in the practice rounds. Hole 16, a long Par 4, was what ended his chances to make the match play portion. He hit his drive left into the natural grass area, gunch as I refer to it. The spotter saw it hit, but had difficult finding it. About 7 guys are looking for this ball in a 10-15 foot area and are having no luck. Finally, someone spots a ball with the Swinging Pete logo. He hacks the ball out and back to the fairway giving himself at least a chance to save par or worst case bogey. As Stratton and Breck get to the ball, I see Stratton get a look on his face that pretty much tells you what happened. Somehow in the land of Kansas, somebody else had lost a Titleist Swinging Pete ball but this was a ProV1 and not a Prov1x. I cannot even imagine what are the chances of that ever happening, but it did and Stratton called over the scorer and other players to report the penalty. They did a real quick look in the gunch again, but nothing and Stratton walked back to the tee to tee off again. He played the hole and made an 8 with three penalty strokes, the stroke on the wrong ball and the lose of distance (I think I have that right). He went on to par and birdie the last two holes to end the day at +3. It was impressive to watch how he handled the situation and then went about playing the last two holes the way he did. Like I said in my earlier post, the young man has character and a lot of game to go with it. If you ever get a chance to watch him play, I would highly recommend doing it. Breck--if I wrote anything down wrong or wasn't my place to say let me know and I will edit.

I just read all 60 pages at work, start to finish; this is an awesome thread. Very cool to see Stratton's progression through the years, both equipment wise and life-wise. Thanks for all the updates Deerslayer, you have one heck of a son!

 • 2 weeks later...

I have an update on his WITB coming. :) We took a break after the Pub Links and went fishing in CO. Stratton is gone once again and is on the bag this week for his 10yr old Cousin. He has the old school Jones bag in play right now with some old school Vintage Swinging Pete Logo headcovers. We have some pics of Old School/New School......

Thank You for coming out Oldhamer25. The 16th hole on day two is a hole we will remember forever. Beyond strange when he had to walk back and hit his fifth shot off the tee and realizing that essentially your tournament is over. He is working hard now on preparing for the team when he reports in a couple of weeks. Here are a couple of nice trout he landed last week.

I don't think they're wear marks, it looks like uncleaned specimens. Ping doesn't wear that easy.

Mdgboxx, they are dirty, but when you see the pics of them cleaned, you won't believe they are PING's.
They have some deep wear on the faces. So much, he is getting a new set. He goes through at least two 8i-PW a year not counting his short game wedges.
