DS, is the towel in the above picture with the swinging Pete a players towel? Don't remember seeing that when he played in the Pub links.

Two days and 61 pages later, I have to say good read. Thanks for all the side info on paint fill, wedge re-gripping, and so on. I am going to spend the weekend prepping my clubs now!

As the son of a former collegiate golfer and as a former collegiate walk on myself, I hope my daughter gets big by the golf-bug here in a few years. I like the advice for supporting rather than pushing a sport. We grew up playing different sports each season, and I probably should have trimmed down to one or two sports once I was in high school.

Speaking of high school, I am totally jealous of the golf programs that have a "system." We were just a handful of inner city kids who were given a sleeve of balls from our coach (who we could all outplay) and told to play.

Balancing college and golf is no easy task and after a year on the college team I quit to go full time nerd. Good luck and good job to Strat and the others for being able to do both.l

They are in FL right now. Stratton is out for a while. He did some significant damage to his right wrist bracing his fall on stairs. He's in a splint cast that he only gets to remove for showering. Not really anything he can do right now but conditioning. Not good times for him right now, but the goal is to be ready for the spring and get the scaphoid bone healed and back into shape.

Bummer, really, BUMMER!

Now, he has no choice: "Let nature do it's work at it's own pace" (Coming back *too soon* is never a good thing)

So, now he has a war wound, to talk to the girls about! :bb2:

Seriously, one injury is one too many.

Best to Stratton.

Better it happens now than when he's a senior or thinking about turning pro. Sucks to hear it but it's also probably the best time of year for it to happen as well with regards to the fall season winding down.

Just read the whole thread the past two days and just wanted to make a couple comments. I'm in my last year of college and our school just put golf into the sports program so I am going to play in the spring. I never thought I would play college golf (certainly not at the level of Strat and OSU, but still college golf), so it's nice that since I've picked up the game again I have chance to actually play for my school.

Breck, you are a father every kid would dream to have. You've done a fantastic job raising Strat and providing for him and it's wonderful to see how humble of a gentleman he's turned out to be. I've seen plenty of kids given opportunities similar only to take it for granted and piss it all away. Congrats on raising a gentleman and a spectacular player. I wish him the best and a speedy recovery! I can't even imagine how proud you are.

I look forward to following this as he progresses and seeing the projects you all tackle! Congrats!

Hey man, I've boken my scaphoid so I can totally relate. I was playing college hockey against Penn State when I was cheap shotted and hit from behind. I put my right hand up to brace the fall and I heard something pop. Man did that hurt. I was stubborn and didn't tell my coaches or parents because I knew It was going to end my season. I ended up playing another 2 years with that broken bone in my hand. When I finally went to the Dr, it was to late for them to do anything except operate and put a rod in my hand. I decided to not go with the operation and tried to rehab it. They gave me the "exogen bone stimulator". This injury happened back in December 09. Never had the operation, and my hand has made a full recovery. Try to get him on that machine. It does WONDERS! I golf 3-4 times a week, the hand is just about as good as new. Only issue is a slight difference in how i guess flexible would be the right word? If i put my hand flat on the ground, kind of like what you would do when doing push ups, my ring arm can't go straight. But hey, if thats the only issue, without getting the operation, I'll take it ! My Dr told me with the operation I'm looking at a 8-10 months after all said and done. Just check into the EBS.

I broke my Scaphoid bone back in winter '07 after a snowboard accident. Opted to go with the surgery, had 3 pins put in. After around 3 months or so of PT and working out on my own I was almost brand new. Like the previous poster said I do have some lack of flexibility but that's about it. I actually joined the Navy later that year and have no issues. When I'm not on deployment I usually play twice a week and I have no problems. Good luck on the recovery.
