Come on DS, need some updates! Wrist rehab?

 

He is doing great. He is able to hit full shots now and play. He was home with us this Thanksgiving and it was good to see him again. I was in Stillwater a couple weeks ago going and returning from a bow hunt in Kansas. My wife flew up and we took in a game and spent the weekend in snowy Stillwater with Stratton.

 

We will do an update for SURE during the December break as he has quite a few changes made to whats in the bag now. New driver, new 3w some iron changes as well. Thanks for the congrats on his POY for the Texas Golf Association. His team was given a hard bound book for each of them that covered his first tournament at Pebble Beach this season. It is an awesome book and keepsake and I will take some photos from the book of Stratton that are awesome. I will take some pics of the book. I was unaware of it until he brought it home this week.

He has also collected some new swag that is pretty nice that we will need to take many more pics of as well................................

Glad to hear Stratton's wrist has gotten better and he is getting to hit it again. That black belt buckle looks really goooooood. The two others are really nice, but there is something about that black one. Thanks for sharing DS.

This was the first thread under my unread posts and saw a discussion on breaking the scaphoid, sorry for arriving late to the party, or if this post jumped the shark. I feel for Strat. I too have broken my scaphoid but mine was a nonunion. Meaning that it healed incorrectly, because I put off going under the knife 7 months after the fact. The scaphoid bone is usually broken how it happened to Strat often times bracing a fall etc. I broke mine by force in the opposite direction. During a pickup game of basketball, trying to establish position in the post boxing out for a rebound, my hand got pinned into my chest becoming tangled with another player. Imagine as if you're punching yourself in the chest, was how my arm was positioned. Another guy came running in from the perimeter crashing the boards and before he could jump, ran into my elbow. At first I didn't know the extent of the injury but knew jt was bad because I couldn'tt so simple tasks that requires supination and probation of the wrist, i.e. Turn the steering wheel in my car one handed or turn a door knob. I consulted an orthopedic surgeon who was a hand specialist, to perform my surgery. I was out a LONG time. I have a 3 inch titanium screw in my bone packed with a graft taken from my pelvis to allow new bone to grow. I had to spend 6 months including the summer, in a full arm thumb spiked cast bent at the elbow. Then had to rehab for 6 more months to regain range of motion and strength. It was awful because I couldn't do anything that I loved to do. The time spent in a cast can be upsetting and depressing at times so if there's any advice I can share from my experience it is to always be forward thinking and not focus on what you potentially are missing out on. Dwelling on that thought is only self defeating and makes the situation worse than it can be. Godspeed to Stratman in his recovery. I feel for ya buddy. This thread is full of awesome having seen a few pages already and look forward to reading the rest!

I was at Karsten Creek last Friday just to pop into the clubhouse for some OSU items and was hoping to run into Stratton practicing, but was not a nice day and had no luck. I too hope he is healing and will be playing again soon.

I work in the admin at Oklahoma State athletics and let me go on record to say that Stratton is a great kid. As kind and as humble as can be. Him and some buddies were out at Lakeside golf course in Stilly (non OSU golfers so Karsten was off limits for the outsiders lol) about a month back playing in front of us on a slow day and they/we had a great time. For you OSU golf fans out there, a name to watch is the new freshman Kristoffer Ventura, kid can really play.
