The Judge at Capitol Hill(RTJ Trail)

Anyone who's played here.... tell me about it!! I've played Limestone Springs and Farmlinks already and just wanna know how The Judge stacks up against the best in the state. Thanks.

beautiful golf course! you cant really go wrong with any of the RTJ courses, played it early june last year and will be heading down next month to play the rotation at capitol hill.

It's an absolute honest test of your game. I've played every RTJ course in Alabama and it's my favorite with Grand National at Opelika being a close second. It's a bit early right now but give it 6 weeks and it's one of the top 10 public courses in the USA. The Judge has hosted numerous qualifiers, NCAA championships, Nationwide (or whatever the hell they name it these days)Championships, and LPGA Tour events. It could seriously host the PGA. You'll love it, especially for the price.

Also, the Senator is a great Links course and the Legislator is a good one as well.

Just my opinion; I'd rather play Farmlinks and Limestone Springs before I'd play the Judge at Captiol Hill. Don't get me wrong, but the other courses are just a bit ahead of the RTJ Judge with me. That being said, I'm scheduled to play 54 holes in April at Capitol Hill.

I live and play capitol hill every week. I would not put limestone above it, but really enjoy Hurdzan courses. Judge is tough and never gives you a break. Playing all three in a weekend is as good as it gets. I don't like Grand National near as much...although the lakes course there is pretty cool.

The LPGA is played on the senator not the judge, right? Judge is the prettiest, but senator is more fun in my opinion.

define impressed and wowed. it's nice and challenging and the huge squirrels are somewhat cool.

impressed and wowed= standing on tee boxes and having to scramble for the camera.... extremely scenic holes, etc.....stunning elevation changes... if you've played limestone springs, capstone club, or farmlinks thats what i mean....

I don't think it's as good as Farmlinks, but I much prefer it to Limestone Springs. All 3 courses in Prattville are very good. I probably like the Legislator the best, but I think that's just because it suits my eye a little better.

We must've caught Limestone Springs at a bad time because it's always rated very high, but it was in absolutely horrible condition when we played it.

I've only played LIMESTONE twice, but my god it was AMAZING.... conditioning was near perfect.... like 9.8 out of 10 lol... it was late may 08 i believe

You boys have me geeked. Playing RTJ trail this weekend. Itinerary:
Friday - Capitol Hill: Legislator/Judge
Saturday - Capitol Hill: Senator/Judge
Sunday - Grand National: Links/Lake
Monday - Ross Bridge

I have heard such great things about this I couldn't afford to pass it up. We got a pretty good package price so all 4 days are covered (we will do Farmlinks and Limestone springs in another trip). We have an opening Friday for a 4th and early Sat am for a 4th. One of our guys doesn't get in until Saturday pm round. All of us all WRX posters on here.

Here's a link to pix of the Judge, Sentor and Legislator. The Legislator is sort of the Judge "Lite". Senator is different from the other two. wide open, lots of mounding.

thanks for the pics... it's pretty impressive when those courses look scenic in the DEAD OF WINTER!! i'm sure they'll be amazing at the end of may

Those pix are from a very cold week in Feb 2002. It was the last golf trip I took with my Dad. Great memories. I think you will have a great time on your trip.

Those pix are from a very cold week in Feb 2002. It was the last golf trip I took with my Dad. Great memories. I think you will have a great time on your trip.

I noticed you played Wild Horse too last year... are you a golf traveler of sorts? what are the best public courses you've played in terms of "wow" factor across the country?

I travel for business and take my clubs wherever I go. I've played almost 600 courses. Last July I played Wildhorse (Mullen NB), Bayside (Ogalala NB) and Ballyneal (Holyoke CO). That was a great trip. Ballyneal is private and is certainly in my top 25 favorites.

As far as "Wow" factor, I think mountain and desert layouts have a lot of that even if they aren't the best courses from an architectural perspective. Based strictly on "Wow", Wolf Creek in Mesquite NV, the Boulders in Carefree AZ and Arrowhead in Littleton CO would be near the top. Sleepy Hollow CC in Scarborough NY has some gerat holes overlooking the Hudson River. Outside the US, the Ailsa Course at Turnberry Scotland has a lot of wow factor: the famous lighthouse, the Ailsa Craig, the Isle of Arran, the hotel and the fact that it has hosted some exciing Open Championships.
