Anyone still playing the Callaway X12 or X14?

I think the major difference between the Callaway and Hogan irons is the hosel. The X12/14's had the bore through hosel with more offset. Otherwise, very similar. Didn't intend to mislead!
[/quote]

You're right about the hosel. Didn't think of that detail. Not sure about the offset. I think the BH-5 was equivalent to the x-14 Pro, the BH-5 Offset was equivalent to x-14. Offsets seemed similar to me, but I don't remember the exact specs.

To Mr. Frichissin: didn't mean to do a switcheroo on you. Sorry. I really meant to point out a possible alternative that would be the same in all respects except the labels. But if the bore-thru hosel is an important feature, or if the labels are important, by all means, go for the actual x-14.

Cheers. Happy New Year. :drinks:

I had the x 12's from when they came out and recently traded them in but I really liked the x14's.....both of them were good clubs and can still perform and I felt they were very durable and my heads of my x12's when I traded them in looked brand new! I would play the 14's as a second set or set to rotate around with for fun!

I’ve used these irons for the last 10+ years. I bought a used set of X-12 Pros in the early 2000s and just replaced them with the X-14 Pros in March of last year.
At some point I’d like to get fit for a set (I kind of like the AP1s as they set up very similar to the X14 Pros), until then I will keep playing the X-14s Pros.

5 years later I am reviving this thread. I had a set of X14s when they came out in 2000 and bagged them for 4 years. Been on PING, Cobra and component hoing sprees ever since and today I walked into a Play It Again Sports and spotted a MINTY set of X14s. Original grips still tacky, shaft labels perfect, no pits on the shiny mint shafts, and the heads are clean of any nicks with very little face wear showing. Somebody bought these and didn't play much. 3-AW for $99. I could not resist - they are in my bag.

I’ve been using Callaway X-12 Ladies Gems since 1999. These clubs have always been fantastic. Very forgiving with my off centre hits. I’m looking at upgrading to Callaway M2 2017 ladies irons. Technology must have improved since 1999. However I will be keeping my X-12’s…..just in case. A friend mentioned to me recently that she wished she hadn’t gotten rid of her X-12’s. I won’t be making that mistake.

I think the X-14 Pros are the prettiest CAST clubs I've ever seen.

I preferred the x12s, played my best golf with those and I can't understand why I sold them. On looks the x14s were better but on performance I thought the x12s were spectacular! I do look on eBay time to time looking at x12s.....by the way, every time I see your profile picture it makes me chuckle!!

Still have a set of the X-12s in the basement. Bought them when they came out and played them for several years. My daughter played them her freshman year of high school - then she "retired" from the game.

I've just put in a set of x12 4-pw into my bag. Played my best golf with them and there was a half price sale on 2nd hand goods at American Golf. So for £65 with regular graphite shafts I really couldn't resist. Stunning irons, feel really crisp at impact and still fly off the face. So I feel like I've gone back to 2005 and I'm hoping I go back to playing golf like I did in 2005!

OK, it's 2023 and I still play with the X-14 irons. This is my second set since the year 2000. I keep headcovers on them and they still look newish, and the grooves still play like new.

Since I bought these irons in 2000, I have tried to replace them a few times to no avail. I bought a set of Ping G5 irons around 2005. Then I bought the Callaway Mavrics. Then I got a set of Callaway Apex. None of these irons play as well as my X-14s. The X-14s aren't long and the older I get, the shorter they fly but I continue to play great rounds with them. I want new irons so bad but it's like I am addicted to the X-14s. The new irons out there are so inconsistent. I hit an 8 iron that feels solid and one time it will fly a certain distance. The next time it will fly 15 yards different. You would think being a single digit player I could hit a forged iron but no, I can't.

Now I'm looking at the Ping i230 and the Ping G430 irons. I like them both, but I hate to buy a set. Number one they are expensive and number two, I know they won't be as good as my X-14s. I bought the Ping i230 6 iron in my specs and it is amazing in that when you hit the sweet spot, the balls land in a 5-foot circle. If you miss hit it though, the ball comes up a whole club short or shorter. The X-14 goes the same distance for the most part on mishits. How can I change irons when this is happening? I'm getting fitted for a set of Ping G430 irons next week. Specifically, to figure out which shaft I need. We shall see how that goes.

Why are the X-14 irons so good? I can't even wear them out. I only bought a second set because they were on eBay in 2012 brand new for $300. I hate these irons. They are so good I cannot experience anything new and play better. wtf
